Save paint, time, and money with the Masterson Sta-Wet Palette Seal, an airtight container for storing a wet palette. It preserves the freshness of your paints for many days, saving you from having to clean your palette after every painting session.
For oils, place your favorite type of palette (wood, glass, plastic, or paper) into the Palette Seal tray and snap on the lid.
For acrylics, use the Palette Seal with Sta-Wet palette paper sheets and a sponge insert (both sold separately). Moisten the sponge and lay it inside the tray, then place the palette paper on top. When the lid is open, your acrylics will have an extended open time. When the lid is snapped shut, the Palette Seal will maintain a moist atmosphere that preserves acrylic paint amazingly well. (For best results, use only Sta-Wet brand palette paper, which is permeable, cleanable, and reusable.)
Made in the USA of tough yet lightweight plastic, the Masterson Sta-Wet Palette Seal measures 1¾"H × 16"W × 12"D (4.5 cm × 40 cm × 30 cm).

Comments about Masterson Sta-Wet Palette Seal:
I did a review on this same palette, I own 2 now. one for oil, one for acrylic, I paint back and forth, while waiting for oil to dry. You do need to follow the suggestion of putting a petroleum based product along the lid seal. it does help with taking off and putting on the lid. If you're going to be away from painting a long time, be careful of very wet sponges with the acrylic. I noticed a bit a mold. a drop of bleach on a cotton swab remedies this. ( if not a lot of mold is there)
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Love this palette keeper.
I'm a professional artist, I work in a lot of mediums. This palette has been around a LONG time. I had purchased one around or 30 years ago. I bought it for acrylics. I hated it. But that was my own fault, for not having a lot of information, about it or my medium. The Lid was much more stiff then, and I ended up tossing it. But the 2nd one, I absolutely LOVE. The lid is so much more flexible, and the base, isn't as rigid as my first one, but by no means floppy. I would recommend if you're using acrylics, buy the sponge inserts, they work. you could use something else, but it is not as effective. I have 2 complaints about it, the lid is extremely tight, a good seal, and I wouldn't want them to change this, I would like to get over the tennis elbow, it makes it difficult to pry it off, they recommend to go around the lid groove with petroleum, to make it easier, it does help. so just don't be surprised, or injured when wrangling this. When you're sealing the lid to the base, put ON A SECURE Surface!!!! ( I use a smaller table, and you need to lock in one corner first, as recommended on the instructions, and thanks to them for including this with the palettes, they didn't on my first) you will have to do a race track with your thumb around the edges. If you have arthritis in your hands, it might be a bit difficult. You can not just press the corners and think it's sealed; go around it a couple times for a secure seal. My second complaint is not so much the box itself, but how to keep the palette paper from curling at the corners. Nothing I can think of at the moment, will remedy this, there is no room for a clip to anchor it to a moist sponge for acrylics, but I guess you could use a small round sewing weight in the corner, but it will get messy. The paint stays moist, I'd think for a LOT longer than you'd think with acrylic, and I'm pretty sure, you'd not have any loss if you couldn't get back to your painting ( oil) if it was over a week, I'd be really surprised, if it was longer than a couple months though. The support pegs that are in the lid, do not interfere with the paint, (unless you have a mountain of it in the wrong place. so pay attention) I'd not only recommend this, but I plan on purchasing two more, one for acrylic ( and I'll get the sponges that fit) and another for my husband, who works in gouache, and paints so slow, I think he'd be pleased that he could keep a palette for so long a time)

Time and Money saver!

I saw this product being used by other artists. I was curious to why they were using this box looking thing. I eventually found out why. I paint in multiple sessions so I had the trouble of my paint drying out when i came back to paint then i had to remix and use more paint each session. This product solves that problem of not letting your paint dry out. it keeps it fresh and moist. Oil paint does not evaporate but it oxidate therefore causing it to hard dry and harden. This not only saves times but money which is always a good thing and also the headache of mixing colors correctly each time. You will use less paint in the long run and it save time and you will be able to complete a painting a bit quicker as well cause you not have to mix colors each painting session. Once you have mixed them they should stay fresh and moist for a few weeks.

I have used Masterson Sta-Wet acrylic paper for many years. I could not do without it and hate to think how much acrylic painted I would have wasted, if it were not for this product. That having been said, the lid to the actual palette needs to be redesigned, but that's another review for another time.
