Save paint, time, and money with the Masterson Sta-Wet Palette Seal, an airtight container for storing a wet palette. It preserves the freshness of your paints for many days, saving you from having to clean your palette after every painting session.
For oils, place your favorite type of palette (wood, glass, plastic, or paper) into the Palette Seal tray and snap on the lid.
For acrylics, use the Palette Seal with Sta-Wet palette paper sheets and a sponge insert (both sold separately). Moisten the sponge and lay it inside the tray, then place the palette paper on top. When the lid is open, your acrylics will have an extended open time. When the lid is snapped shut, the Palette Seal will maintain a moist atmosphere that preserves acrylic paint amazingly well. (For best results, use only Sta-Wet brand palette paper, which is permeable, cleanable, and reusable.)
Made in the USA of tough yet lightweight plastic, the Masterson Sta-Wet Palette Seal measures 1¾"H × 16"W × 12"D (4.5 cm × 40 cm × 30 cm).

Comments about Masterson Sta-Wet Palette Seal:
good but wish it came in a smaller size with palette paper
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for your review. This item does come in a smaller size with palette paper — it's called the Masterson Sta-Wet Handy Palette! It's big, air-tight, PERFECT for keeping a palette fresh!
I have two, will buy one or two more. Will cut some glass to fit, to use as palettes.I see no reason to waste expensive oil paint. And I like to keep the paints I've mixed set aside until I finally finish a painting. The size is perfect. And ... if you have an 11x14 canvas in progress, you can put it inside, rather than a palette.

Sta-Wet stays wet

I've had my stay-wet palette for 3 years now and this is the first time I've had to change the sponge underneath. I like to spray it with double strength vinegar so it doesn't get the mold. Some folks use bleach, but I think that would rot it.
only get the case

Love this and it will get a lot of use but disappointed that it did not come with the stay wet sponge and a couple sheets of palette paper.

Your paints don't dry out as fast and you can mist them to keep workable longer. Mist the paints then put on the lid as the directions state and you will cut down drastically the amount of wasted paint. A very excellent product.

I have been using this palette for my oil paints for about a month now. I'm only an occasional painter so I need to be able to close up my paints and come back to them with ease. This palette box has been so great! I'm able to leave the box on my art stand next to my easel and come and go easily without any extra fuss or putting things away.I also have cats, so being able to close the lid on the paint and leave the box out is such a time saver from what I was doing before (cleaning everything up or hiding the old palette in a closet to keep them away from the cat hair). The seal is also really strong so I know they won't get into it. I'm sure they could even walk across the top of the box without disturbing the paints or causing any problems.I had my framers cut me a piece of glass to fit inside and bought a blade scraper to clean the glass palette. This works excellently and can't believe I haven't been doing this all along. My paint teacher had duck taped the edges of rough cut glass and then made a duck tape tab on the end for herself to lift the glass in and out of the box. Personally, I paid a little extra and had the framers finish the glass edges so they won't cut me and there's no need for the duck taped edges. I cut the glass as big as I could, but realized afterword, that I should have cut one of the ends a fingertip less in size so there would be no need for a ribbon or tab on the glass to lift it out. The lid seals great. I find it very easy to get on and off... it only took one read of the instructions to know the proper way to do it. (Press down on 4 corners first, then press along all edges to finish the seal). The instructions said to add a little bit of vasoline the first time you use it to help with the seal, which I did, and it works great. The paint is definitely lasting longer, I love the convenience and time saving qualities that this has added to my painting.I also found a table that is just a few inches bigger than this palette with drawers below to hold all my paints and brushes, so now I have a perfect painting set up full time! I love it so much! Again, I can't believe I haven't used these before!

I recently purchased a Masterson Sta- Wet Palette at a going out of business craft shop. I am new at Water Color, but not new to painting in general, so, I didn't realize when I purchased the palette that there was no way to preserve the paint. It did have literature with it. I found the site online and purchased the seal for the #1216 palette. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the item and presented it to my art instructor for critique. He was properly impressed and so am I. I will be using it for watercolor and plan to purchase color blocks to fill it with in the future. I like the large area to store the palette as well as the tight seal to keep it snug and safe for preservation of the paint.

Wish it had come with the required sponge. Didn't realize that sponge was not included so had to make separate order!
