Masterpiece Monterey Cotton Canvas is a top-quality, professional surface for oil or acrylic painting.
Masterpiece's popular 7 oz Monterey 100% cotton canvas is sized and double-primed with acrylic gesso, yielding an archival, acid-free, pH-neutral surface with a 10.5 oz primed weight.
The canvas is stretched using the exclusive MuseumWrap method, which yields a balanced tension up to 50% tighter than canvas stretched using other methods. Clean, paintable, staple-free edges are perfect for an elegant frameless display. Uncut, folded corners and extra canvas selvage leave the canvas intact and re-stretchable on the same size frame.
Precision-machined, solid wood stretcher bars are made with lumber harvested from sustainable forests in the Pacific Northwest. The kiln-dried stretcher bars are tapered to yield full relief to the canvas, preventing those unsightly lines created when the canvas touches the bar underneath.
For canvas sizes 16" x 16" and up, a keyable cross brace system provides extra support. Unprecedented for this size stretcher bar, a keyable brace prevents the frame from bowing inward and makes it possible to tension the canvas in the middle of the frame if needed.
Masterpiece Monterey Cotton Canvas is available in two profiles:
• Monet Pro — 1-1/2" profile with a 1/2" relief between the bar face and canvas back.
• Vincent Pro — 7/8" profile with a 5/16" relief between the bar face and canvas back.
Monterey Monet Pro Canvas
The Monet Pro has a 1-1/2" profile with a 1/2" relief between the bar face and canvas back.
Monterey Vincent Pro Canvas
The Vincent Pro has a 7/8" profile with a 5/16" relief between the bar face and canvas back.

Comments about Masterpiece Monterey Cotton Canvas:
These canvases are top quality - strong stretchers with rare warping. I've used them for years for oils, and was delighted when Blick started carrying them. I only wish they had more sizes available.I ordered six and one came damaged. Blick was very prompt in replacing it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

If there is a better stretched canvas on the market, I haven't found it. The stretchers never warp, the larger sizes have extra supports, the canvas cloth is tight. A quality product. I always add one more coat of gesso myself and then it accepts the paint (I use oils) well without slurping it up hungrily. I've used this brand of canvas for years but often had difficulty finding it and getting it shipped promptly. Blick to the rescue! The canvases arrived just as quickly as any other order from Blick. I'm very pleased!

Very good quality. The framing is very sturdy and the stretch is taut and evenly done! Canvas has a nice medium tooth.

I completely re-stocked my oil painting supplies with Blick. Everything I purchased was in good condition except for one tube of paint. It comes out with dried, rubbery globs. I thought it was just at the beginning of the tube, but it's hopeless. This was an anomaly, I'm sure, so I will order from Blick again. They may just need to check their stock and NOT ship the things that are not "fresh" frim their suppliers.
I do abstract and the canvas holds up well to many coats

Hands down, the best
Masterpiece is the best stretched canvas this side of the Atlantic. I've been using these(for oils) for years, both the Carmel smooth portrait and the Monterey regular tooth. The stretchers are high quality, never warp, and include bracing bars for larger sizes. The canvas is stretched tight and smooth, and the gessoing is good (I usually add one more layer of acrylic gesso myself because I like it fairly smooth.) Works fine for acrylics too.The only downside is that Blick carries only the most common sizes, and I don't see an option for the Carmel smooth finish. Also, a minor point is that because of the way the canvas is folded around the stretcher corners, in one direction the entire carvas will measure slightly larger than expected, for example an 18x24 will measure closer to 18 1/8 x 24.Blick was very good about shipping. They said that 3 of the 4 canvases that I ordered were back ordered, but I actually received all 4 on the same day, within a week. These canvases can be hard to get because each one is custom made to order. Worth every penny!

I love this canvas. the quality is much nicer than other cheaper products I've used. Its very nice to work on. I will only buy high quality canvas because it makes the finished art more appealing.
