Ideal for oil-based paints, Masterpiece Artfix Oil Primed Linen Canvas is primed by hand with two coats of size and one coat of oil-based primer. The archival-quality Belgian linen canvas has a 13 oz primed weight.
A superior tongue-and-groove bracing system eliminates the need for glue, staples, or other materials that prevent expansion of the entire frame. Canvas 16" x 20" and larger is cross-braced for additional strength and tension in the canvas and on the frame.
Staple-free edges are perfect for frameless presentation, and folded corners with an uncut selvage allow for re-stretching if desired.
Masterpiece Artfix Oil Primed Linen Canvas is available in two profiles:
• Vincent Pro — 7/8" profile with a 5/16" relief between the bar face and canvas back.
• Monet Pro — 1-1/2" profile with a 1/2" relief between the bar face and canvas back.

Linen and oil primed.
from Edmonds, Wa
Comments about Masterpiece Vincent Pro Artfix Oil Primed 7/8" Profile Linen Canvas:
Not certain if this is the best quality that is on the market, however the high quality of this product can not be found in art stores I have ever visited. Not even Blick has this in their store it has to be ordered on line. Linen primed in oil is smooth to paint on, less paint is needed. Looks more professional. I have noticed some customers have complained about waves in the canvas. There is a reason there are keys in the stretcher bars, and they can also be just restretched in the area if there is a wave in the canvas.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I was dissapointed the linen was not tight on the supports
By D the artist
from Green Cove Springs, FL
I wanted to use a high quality product for a commission and was disappointed that the linen was not stretched tight on the supports. It had buckles and waves in the surface. I used another product for my work. I was expecting superior product and was greeted with so-so.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that you aren't happy with the quality of this canvas. Although each canvas is tested to ensure proper tension before it leaves the Masterpiece factory, changes in environmental conditions can cause a canvas to slacken. Moist air causes cotton and linen to shrink, and they will slacken under drier conditions. Because this is unavoidable, Masterpiece includes keys in the corners and cross-brace joints that can be used to tighten the canvas. If you have questions on using the keys, our Product Specialists are here to help. Just call 1-800-933-2542 (8am-5:30pm CST M-F) or email firstname.lastname@example.org. As always, if you feel that the canvas simply will not meet your needs, you're covered under our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.

These canvas's our the best you have to offer. The first time they came in they had ripples in two out of three, I called to return got the usual I'm sorry said they would replace, asked them to please inspect before shipping out, which was acknowledged. Came in surprise surprise same problem. I am a member of two art organizations. Not good for Blick.
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your comments on this canvas. Changes in humidity can cause the canvas to slacken at any time, so a canvas that's well-stretched by the manufacturer may be taut in our warehouse and looser when it arrives to you. The canvas may re-tighten on its own with time, or you can tighten the canvas using the corner keys that are pre-installed in the stretcher frame for this purpose. Of course, we do offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and we're happy to work with you on a return, but we invite you to work with our Product Specialists if you would like further information on maintaining a taut surface. You can reach them by phone at 1-800-933-2542 (weekdays 8am to 5:30pm CST) or email at email@example.com.
The perfect canvas
from Kennesaw Ga
This canvas is the best. Even weave..no blemishes in the linen...tight as a drum...the surface has just the right amount of tooth to it...I like as smooth canvas but not one that is as smooth as glass. I hope these are made forever..my perfect canvas search is over. I highly recommend these canvasses.

excellent product, poor shipping
from Toledo, OH
These oil-primed linen surfaces are expensive, but stretched tightly, a beautiful, fine-grained surface, worth it to me. Why Dick Blick shipped it to me in a paper bubble ENVELOPE is a mystery to me, I am a professional artist and buy these as I am mindful of using archival products and surfaces. Normally I purchase products locally but couldn't get this at the time, so I looked online; I will not be ordering here again, stretched canvases need to be shipped in BOXES, obviously.

As an artist painting in oils for some years now, I have used quite an array of surfaces over the years. I purchased one of these quite some time ago and only recently got around to using it. I now wish I had used it immediately. The stretcher bar and cross brace, on the 16"x20" were completely knot free which was a work of art all by itself. The oil primed linen was just gorgeous and had no unsightly defects at all. The finished painting's beauty was assisted enormously by the back-staple stretching used to assemble these canvases and a huge plus being 5/16" relief from the stretcher bar to the canvas, completely doing away with stretcher bar impressions in the paint. I am now buying more of these and will only use these canvases in the future for any painting other than studies. I would include a photo of the painting however I had to get it to the gallery before thinking of doing this review. Please do yourself a favor though, and at least try one. YOU WILL BE SOLD!
