maybe it's okay if all you cut is 1 inch foam
By Blick Stick

Comments about Marvy Uchida Super Hotwire Foam Cutter:
My Blick store does not stock any foam cutters and suggested I drive 2 hours round trip and pay $50 in parking and tolls to their LOOP store where the clerk thought "they probably had one". I paid $5 more, but was able to get it across the street at HL. Tried to cut a piece of 4 inch memory foam and after about 30 minutes I finally made it through maybe 2 inches. Very slow and waaaaay under powered for anything more than maybe 1 inch thick stuff. The base and removable cutter feature are okay so I gave 2 stars. I'm returning it and will continue looking for a decent foam cutter because this model is a waste of money.

Fantastic entry level cutter. It's a little 'Fisher Price", but it works great. Some have said no replacement wires to be had. Just get a roll of wire & make your own.

Great machine, short life. No extra wire
from San Juan, PR
The wire breaks easily and no spare parts are sold. You just have to buy a new machine again.
Merchant response: Thank you for your review. Each cutter includes three replacement wires, and when you need more, you can use nichrome wire in a .25 mm (plus or minus .015) that you would purchase at a hardware store or home improvement center. An alternative would be 28 gauge steel wire, which will not get as hot as the nichrome. If you ever have questions on a product you purchase from us, we hope you'll let us help. Product Specialists are available at 1-800-933-2542 (8am-5:30pm CST M-F) or firstname.lastname@example.org, and they're happy to assist you!

At a time when consumers are increasingly concerned about value for money it is very disappointing to see that the makers of this lovely tool saw it fit to make changes that are not beneficial to the buyers and users of this tool...The nice little built in handle?GONE!...The angle cut feature?GONE!...The size?SMALLER!...The l.e.d. on/off light?GONE!...Those Changes are Unwelcome...If I would have taken off a star for each feature taken away, this product would have gotten zero stars from me.I still love my Marvy Uchida Super Hotwire Foam Cutter, hence three stars.
