Comments about Martin Universal Softside Portfolios:
This was a hard to find item. I needed a way to store my kids art work in a convenient and compact manner. This was it.

Item is well made, no defects in craftsmanship. I left the cardboard insert in to retain structure and there is plenty of room left for transporting canvas or gesso boards. Front pocket is perfect for palette paper or whatever you need to haul along. For whatever reason mine did not come with a shoulder strap. A quick email to customer services and a few days later resolved the only negative thing I can think about this purchase.
Good product-perfect for what we were looking for.

We are using these portfolios to travel with artwork that we show in classrooms for our Art Presenter program in Warren County, Illinois and they are perfect. Canvas is pliable, yet sturdy, zippers work easily, handle is comfortable and we love the option of the shoulder strap.

We use these portfolios to transport our metal and canvas images to art shows. They work very well.
This is a great value. It held all my art and still has room. For the price, you can't beat it. I bought it for carrying matted work.

My last portfolio was falling apart because it was too small and I kept having to shove stuff in it. I got the 24x36 one and it is a wonderful size ! Everything fits perfectly and I am so happy I decided to go with this one ! I got the grey one because everybody in my class has black ones :^) Thank you for this wonderful product !

too small but good quality

Love it besides the fact that it most certainly does not fit an 18x24 sketch pad in it. very disappointed about that. works great for a smaller one though.
Inexpensive with a professional look

I use this to carry all of my original pieces to class. I am a watercolorist instructor and I trust this product to transport some of my small pieces. www.pinetreeart.etsy.com

I chose this bag due to it being on sale and having two separate compartments. Also - Though I'm not a huge fan of green I knew no one else in class would have one this color. Most I have seen are black or grey. It is very sturdy and has reinforced corners which is nice, especially since its usually on the art room floor. Also, the two pockets are wonderful, hold my 18x24 pads of paper nicely and my composite drawing board. It also has a small see through slot for your information in case it gets lost. Shoulder strap makes it nice to carry - I just wish it was padded as mine gets heavy. That is my only issue with this one. Otherwise it hits all the marks.

Zipper broke after six months
By Judi Demar
from Madison, WI
I purchased the 24 x 36 inch portfolio in December, 2013. Since then, I have used it approximately 3 times per week to travel back and forth to drawing classes. Two problems. First, the lack of stiffness and large size of the portfolio made it tricky to keep open while at the same time place large drawing pads and boards into it before and after class. Most disappointing, however, is that the zipper broke at the end of six months, making the portfolio totally unusable. I ended up throwing it away, as the zipper could not be repaired. I wouldn't say that this portfolio was a "total rip-off", as I got some use out of it, but Blick doesn't offer an appropriate category for my experience with this item, such as "below average". I am now in the market for a stiff, lightweight, large portfolio with a shoulder strap, and which does not close with a zipper.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
