Two work surfaces and lots of storage make the Martin Universal Design Dorchester Split-Top Table ideal for drawing, crafting, and many other creative endeavors.
Measuring 47½"W × 2½"D overall, the huge tabletop features a 35½" wide main surface that tilts to 45° for drawing, drafting, and more. An adjacent, 12" wide, non-tilting surface provides a great place to rest supplies, reference materials, a tablet, or a laptop. Below it are three handy fabric storage drawers (each 9"W × 16"D). A metal side tray for holding tools is also included.
The frame is constructed of heavy gauge steel with a resilient baked enamel finish in Black. "Big Foot" adjustable glides on the legs accommodate uneven floor surfaces while also protecting them from scuffs and scrapes.
The Dorchester Split-Top Table stands 31" high and is non-adjustable in height.

Split top drawing table
from Des Moines, Iowa
Comments about Martin Universal Design Dorchester Split-Top Table:
I do a lot of drawing and I have been using a drawing board in my lap which isn't all that much fun, but the table that I bought splits away from the convenient set of drawers that are attached so I can tilt the table up at an angle for my drawing needs and then if I need a flat surface to do other things I just lower it with the handy device built in the design for adjustiblity. It's okay in my book.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This table is exactly what I wanted. However, I'm missing the four correct screws that attach the hinges to the frame. Also, those eight holes do not align. This seemed odd because all other, and there are many, hole line up perfectly. And they aren't just off by a small amount. It's a big difference. I've decided to attach the hinges to the desk top and have someone drill four holes in the metal frame to attach the hinges to the frame. And the screws for the hinges were wood screws not metal screws. When I got the package I layed everything out and cross-checked all parts to make sure I had everything. All other parts were there and correct except the parts I mentioned above.Over all this seems to be a good quality, sturdy table and is what I wanted so I'm willing to compromise on four screws not lining up properly

Because of health reasons, I no longer can stand and paint for hours. I also do not have a lot of space. This table solved all problems. I can store all my supplies in the three drawers. The side table is where I keep my paint pallet ......also it is easy to move around for best lighting. When I want to write instead of paint. It is the perfect desk. One thing I wish I could change, I would like the drawers on the right. But for all you lefties .....you will love it!
