These are refills for the Make-a-Mold Casting Kits. Duplicate every detail of hands, feet, or other objects.
Each refill contains the same tough one-time-use alginate impression material used by the dental industry. This material is completely safe, non-toxic, non-allergenic, and organic. It won't harm skin.
The smaller bags contain enough replacement alginate impression material for Make-a-Mold Casting Kits such as the Baby, Hands, Baby-N-Me, Wedding Hands, and Kid's Hands Kits. For bulk purchase, order one of the larger boxes and save.

Comments about Make-a-Mold Impression Material Refills:
Great for taking live molds. Excellent detail achieved when mixed properly. Just make sure to mix it quickly to avoid clumps, using a paint mixer works really well for this.

Making hand molds
from Pawleys island sc
This product did not work very well. The directions for mixing were not accurate. I wasted a good portion of the product trying to figure out what the right water to mix ration would work. The students in my class were upset and frustrated and we never were able to get a nice hand mold out of the product. I purchased this product with my own money as teachers usually do but it was very disappointing. I had previously bought this product in an art store in Charleston, different brand and it worked great.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We apologize for the issues you had with the instructions for for this alginate. If given as 1 part alginate powder to 3 parts water, then those instructions indicate the proportions by weight. The ratio by volume is 1 to 1. The packaging for this product has been updated to be more clear, and we're eager to make this right with you. A member of our Customer Care Team will be in touch with you to offer further assistance.
Make a Mold is Easy
from Metuchen, NJ
This product is so easy to use. Mix with water, pour into a vessel, make your impression, pour in the plaster and there you go! I have used this in my high school art classes for wonderful sculptures of arms and hands.

I use an ice cream scoop to portion it out in 6 oz foam cups to cast students' thumbs. Mix it vigorously with a spoon (don't overwork it, it will set-up in chunks). It's very forgiving when it comes to powder to water ratio - less powder sets slower and softer; more sets faster and harder. These are TEMPORARY MOLDS - only good for one casting with plaster only. Still a great bargain for a small project. A 4.5 box will do 35 - 40 six ounces cups.

This refill for Make A Mold works great. It takes about 1 cup of water to 3 ounces material (which is enough to make a mold of a 4 month old baby's hand or foot). I had to do a little calculating to come up with that formula, but it works great. It also takes a little longer to solidify into a mold than the original kit, but it is so much cheaper to buy the refill and you can supply your own plaster of paris.

Excellent product! I would buy it again!
from Tampa, Fl
To use the alginate takes a bit of getting used to. The right consistany is definatly needed to work with it. Use as specified on package and you will get the results you are looking for. Once I figured that out, it worked exactly the way I needed it to. I made a mold of my teeth and was able to make the impression with Plaster Of Paris to make the vampire caps I needed for a Halloween party! ABSOLUTLY FANTASTIC!
