Oil and pure pigment, nothing else.
The product of a dream and outstanding technical achievement, the colors in Maimeri’s Puro line are the most advanced and yet the most traditional of oil colors.
Restoring the outstanding simplicity and quality of original oil colors to paint formulas: that was the dream of painter and paint manufacturer Gianni Maimeri, though his dream would not take concrete form as paste in a tube until three generations later.
By striving for simplicity and purity, and employing years of technical expertise, Maimeri’s company came up with formulas for the 80 colors in the Puro range one by one. Using the best-quality non-yellowing safflower-poppy seed oils and stable pigments that require no additives to produce a perfect impasto, Puro combines top quality, the perfect manufacturing process, and the correct balance between pigment and binder.
Squeeze a tube of Maimeri Puro, and you’re squeezing the very idea of oil colors.

Seriously separated in tube

Comments about Maimeri Puro Oil Colors:
I used Maimeri Puro oils years ago, and this tube is not like I remembered them. I only got one tube, so it might be a fluke. I store my paints in "buddy cups" for plein air working and when I opened the tube to fill the cup, I got a cup full of oil. I closed the tube and worked the paint around (there was room to do that!) and it still poured out more oil. The paint is very loose and juicy, and that extra oil is definitely not wanted. This tube is Titanium White, which generally tends to be a bit stiff.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Maimeri Puro Try Out Set
from Atlanta, GA
I did extensive research on oil paints, and compared this with Old Holland, Sennelier, Williamsburg, Blue Ridge, and others... and I decided to try Maimeri Try Out Set, using primary colors (Primary Red - Magenta, Primary Yellow, and Primary Blue), and I tried to create a palette of 12 colors and few more using Titanium White. I created my first oil painting, and I am blown over with intensity of colors! I am so happy! Yes, it is very expensive, and it worth every single penny!

Maimari Puro Oil paint
from San Francisco, CA
It may be expensive but it is so worth it. Maimari Puro is loaded with pigment, making the colors rich and intense. I use this Orange Lake mixed with burgundy or Carmine for a variation of intense reds Why buy a tube of red when you can mix it this way in infinite variety.
from Haverhill, MA
These paints are expensive, but they are well worth it. Great consistency and brilliant color. The set of primaries is a terrific deal. The primary yellow and cyan are fantastic for mixing because they are so pure and brilliant that they don't cause much loss of saturation.
The best earth colors on Earth
By John the Artist
from San Antonio, TX
Maimeri Puro has the best earth pigments to be found in oil colors. The fact that they are ground in poppy/safflower oil just makes it better.

Maimeri Puro oil paints
from Fort Wayne, IN
Maimeri puro pigments are buttery soft. They blend with the greatest of ease and flow onto my canvas. While plein air painting they are the best since I don't need to mix a paint medium with them to make them workable. The puro line has pure rich colors that are very powerful when I need them to be.
Puro is right
All of the Maimeri primaries are wonderful. The cyan and yellow are particularly intense, and the paint has a consistent smooth flow. The tubes behave well and rarely stick, although I'm not sure why. Although expensive, they are worth it. And, given the 3 primaries, in theory you can create any other color. Certainly mixing just 2 of them preserves the intensity well.

Love them, and the color really is pure!
By An artist
Because I am an obsessive freak, I was struck by the review by Kirk~ de artiste (of Long Island) who said you could mix a full range of colors from just the 3-color "Try Out Set" (Primary colors) and white. I just HAD to try this for myself. I could not rest until I bought the 3 color set and put it to the test! (Anyone who doubts that these customer reviews do not have impact should put any doubts to rest now! LOL.)Well, I am not the best color mixer in the world (I am okay but there is always much more to learn) and I haven't tried out all color combinations, but I was able to get some passable flesh tones with the three colors plus white. They really are beautiful, rich, buttery colors. I have several Maimeri Puro colors in my paint box and will get more as time passes. Just beautiful!

TRUE PRIMARY COLORS, pure pigment-great
By Kirk~ de artiste
from Long Island , NY
I did first try these and was a amazed that with just these 3 tubes plus white I was able to do a full range painting. It looks like my palette had 20 colors on it. I do not know of another company that makes real primaries. The titanium white which costs a bit is so packed with pigment I always carry it. With other paints (Windsor Newton i.e.)the white is super strong. However, like superman on Krypton, with other Maimeri puro colors it behaves normally. I love their vivid colors I think 40 plus of pure pigment. I have not tried all the higher end paints but do really like this product. they still make them in their factory according to the original formulas over 100 yrs old. I am attaching 2 images of paintings done with a range of PURO colors and the primaries. In cold weather they worked quite well.
