Made in Italy, Maimeri Polycolor Vinyl Paints have long been appreciated for their versatility and rich consistency.
Adhering well to most surfaces, they provide super-opaque coverage without sacrificing color brilliance, and they dry to a permanent, velvety matte finish. Lightfast and waterproof, they are ideal for outdoor painting.
Colors can be applied directly, intermixed, or overpainted with excellent results. Metallic colors in the line incorporate mica for a rich, opaque luster.

Incredible paint, read all about it!
By The Mexican Marbler.
from Houston, TX
I have been using these Maimeri Polycolor paints for a while and I have never been dissapointed. I love their viscosity and opacity. I have been using them instead of gouache. They are also great for traditional paper and textile Marbling. And their color variety is amazing. Great quality product!
Polycolor paints are awesome.

I purchased this initial set of paints after researching the quality of these paints and was very pleased with the results. The colors are vibrant and versatile. They flow and mix well, and are worth the investment. I will certainly be looking into purchasing some of the larger color pots in the future.

Fifteen year ago being in Bucharest (my native country's capital) I bought some Polycolor acrylic jars to use for my painting projects, which I did and I am still using then!!! Amazingly they are still fresh like the day I bought them. I recommend to other artists Maimeri acrylics

Big let down
By Hoquiam painter
from Hoquiam, WA
I experienced the same problem of separaton. Even when I squeeze the tubes before opening. Even when I opened a new tube I got clear goo and no paint. I have used Mameri water colors and have been very satified. I'm going to try putting the tube contents into small jars and see if I can salvage the paint. Can't afford to throw out eight tubes of paint.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

A Very Different Type of Acrylic
from Greensburg, PA
I have used these paints for a few years at least, but when I bought them they were only available in glass jars. I don't know if the formula was changed, but my paints never separated. If the paint left in the glass jars ever became too thick to use, I just stirred some distilled water into it to restore its working consistency. If you have tubes of this paint, you might want to give the tubes a bit of a massage before opening them to help re-mix the paint and binder. I found these paints to be amazingly opaque and had tremendous covering power. They were actually a bit more blendable than standard acrylics and were very good at doing fine detail because they flowed off the brush better than regular acrylics can. I never used anything but distilled water to thin them to a workable consistency. The only down side was that there is a considerable value shift from wet to dry paint. You have to get used to it and it helps to pre-mix some of the colors you use most so they will match what is already painted. The paintings I did several years ago are still bright and beautiful. My advice would be, if you are thinking of trying these paints, buy a small set to start out and see if there is any issue with separation before investing more money. They always worked flawlessly for me.

Pigment separates: UNUSABLE, AWFUL
By Napa Artist
from Napa, CA
I was really looking forward to using these "fine" Maimeri vinyl-based paints that made a lot of great promises on its description here on DickBlick -- so I bought two colors to try them out. The first time I used them they were fine. Making sure the caps were put on back firmly and tightly as I always do, I then put the tubes away. A couple of months later, I decided to use them again so I squeezed out some paint of the first tube -- instead, blobs of clear acrylic medium just poured out of the tube. This indicated that whatever pigment was in there originally had separated from its binder. I squeezed out some more hoping that eventually some real paint will come out but it was more of the same -- just blobs of clear goo. The same with the second tube! It was obvious that once the tube is opened with this brand, pigment separation WILL inevitably occur. If I could rate this a zero star, I would. Even the more modestly priced brand of acrylic paints I've used won't separate even after a couple of years of storage. I'm glad I purchased only two of Maimeri's "FINE" Acrylic Polycolor paints -- THIS WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. And I'll avoid any MAIMERI products altogether after this experience. Totally unacceptable.
