Comments about Maimeri Classico Oil Colors:
While not the best oil paint out there, still pretty good for the price. If you want to experiment with a new color and don't want to pay the cost of artist grade, this is a good way to test it first.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Nice consistency and color
I bought about about 6 or 7 of these paints along with the M.Graham starter set to get me started in oil painting last year. While I do prefer the intensity and texture of the M.Graham paints, these are still very nice. The colors at still intense and the tube size is very convenient. Half of my tubes however spurt out oil when I open the cap, so that aspect of the paints is kind of a hit or miss. The price is still very good for the quality, and I'm sure I will be ordering some more in the future.

Maimeri Classico Oil Colors , great quality
I love the oil in this product. It makes smooth even strokes and for me it is my favorite oil in my paint box.

Comments about Maimeri Classico Oil Painting Sets:
This is a gift for my artist fiancé, so I can't comment too much on the quality of it. However, it was a great deal for various colors of oil paint and brushes in one set and came in a nice package. I'm sure my fiancé will love it. Blick is his favorite place to shop for art supplies!
Great paint for the $

The paints are nice and buttery. Only problem is that some colors separate in the tube. And require mixing. But it's not too hard to fix.

Happy so far
By special K
I like the 60 mL size tube. I purchased Permanent Madder Deep in place of Alizarin Crimson, and was pleased with the results. It is creamy and buttery, as some reviews stated, but I would prefer a thicker paint. I have tried a dozen different colors, and love them all with the exception of the whites.

FOR PAINTERS LOOKING FOR A FANTASTIC CYAN BLUE, MAIMERI IS A BEAUTIFUL TRANSPARENT BLUE. MORE THAN ANY OTHER CYAN I HAVE TRIED, IT REPLICATES THE DAZZLING BLUE OF WATER ONE SEES IN PRINTED ADS. I'VE USED MANY OTHER MAIMERI CLASSICO COLORS WITH GREAT SUCCESS. A GREAT BUY!

Best in Class ???
Because of my fondness for Maimeri watercolors and the price point and spectrum of the Classico line, I had wanted these paints to be awesome, extremely awesome maybe! What I have noticed in having used several different colors including organic, synthetics and earths is that while I am not blown away maybe, I am quite satisfied. Most recently I had purchased Cadmium yellow deep and Cad lemon as the Cad orange was not available and I was a bit disapointed with the Cad Y deep being so close in hue and value to the lemon (I had wanted the orangish yellow standard cad deep shade) The Cad yellow deep is generally a yellow bordering on orange but the Classico offering is more like a nicely saturated Cad yellow medium from the more standard artsit line oils. On other hand I really am quite impressed with the Cerulean Blue Hue in that it mixes well and has better covering power then I had hoped. I like the oil content of the Clasico line versus Winton and Georgian paints, another bright spot as the Classico's work well out of doors straight from the tube...the Classico seem more like a higher quality paint then to a student grade in that regard. All in all the Classico is a serious value and of high enough standard to use for work that will/should last a lifetime, though I use a different brand of whites! Last note would be to beware of the line up's use of pigment combinations...so many thalo combo hues etc. that one (I) might want to stick with a fairly compact palette and mix for hue, as the Classico single pigments seem of better value then the mixtures..to me. I would recommned obviously and will purchase more myself.

You might get lucky
from Haverhill, MA
I ordered 2 tubes of this paint to try it, having fallen in love with Maimeri Puro. One tube was fine - nice consistency and color, the other was a mess, spewing oil all over my palette -- the paint was apparently separating from the oil. But, Blick was great, and replaced the bad tube immediately, and the new tube they sent is fine. So this may explain why the reviews here are so mixed. Apparently Maimeri has trouble with quality control. So, if you're feeling lucky, this paint is both very nice and a great value.

Lovely Cadmiums at a Great Price
from MI, USA
I paint directly, without glazes and Classico oils are great for me. The consistency is soft and the colors are bright. They handle well even without medium.
