Walnut Oil has been used interchangeably with linseed oil for over a thousand years. It flows more freely, and has less tendency to crack or yellow.
Today it is known that Renaissance masters such as Da Vinci and Durer generally favored walnut oil over linseed oil.

I pair walnut oil with a Silicoil brush cleaning tank to replace solvents such as Terpenoid that I once used to clean my brushes. In addition to the health advantages walnut oil is much kinder to brushes than solvents which tend to dry out natural brush hair. Thanks to walnut oil I can now paint without nausea and headaches :D

"This is a wonderful product ".

What is great about the product is you can use inexpensive canvas and it will smooth the grain out. Sometime have to use Gesso on the canvas but not that often.

Since I have gone solvent-free with my oils (no OMS) I use the walnut oil for cleaning brushes as well as painting. No more headaches or scratchy throat after painting.

Cute bottle, good so far
from Morristown, NJ
This is my first try at walnut oil for mediums, and of course I went with M Graham's. I got the 4 oz just to try it out. The bottle is really cute, but I would have like it to be glass to slow down/prevent any chemical decomposition reactions, as people have said it goes rancid. Obviously, as I just got this, it is not rancid, smells great, and arrived in perfect condition in a timely fashion. I only used a teeny bit so far, things don't dry for a while in my house, so I won't be able to say much about long term effects. Sure feels nice like butter on my brush. One day I'm going to paint with food grade walnut oil just go see what the difference is. But I'm glad I decided to give M Graham's a try. Perhaps I might order some of their oil colors in the future.

The best no-solvent medium around
By Painter Lady
from Nevada City, CA
I have used M. Graham Walnut Oil and it's sister product, M. Graham Walnut Alkyd (faster drying) for years in my oil painting. I tend to paint in layers, so the Alkyd is my primary medium and the straight Walnut Oil is used for brush cleaning, as described on M. Graham's website. If you're serious about painting solvent-free for your health and the health of the environment, this is the best product around. M. Graham's Watercolor line is exceptional too!
