For erasing huge areas of mess and leaving no trace, there's nothing better than the Lyra: flatten it out and remove the yuck from view, with non markings, no greasy mess, and no eraser bits to brush away. For average sized erasures, I often use the Lyra as well as the Japanese Uniball E-Knock retractable eraser, depending on the situation. However, for smaller detailed erasures, I really cannot rely on the Lyra and find the Kokuyo Stick 28-Corner eraser (also Japanese) to be superior. The Lyra is too soft and begins to lose its point as soon as I start erasing smaller, more intricate areas. I still love the Lyra, though: it is long-lasting and removes everything from my drawings and sketches leaving no trace of what was there before, all at a great value. The box makes it awesome.

I found that it lifts great and left nothing on the paper as others have said. I think the texture is different from what I'm used to but it works well for what I do. I don't know how long it lasts before it becomes useless, for now it's held up very well. Some of the folks here seem to be very ardent astists which is why they may have a different take on this eraser.

Lyra has apparently changed its formula since I last bought their eraser in 2010 or 2011. It used to be the softest, stickiest kneadable eraser, and, therefore, the best for lifting, especially precision lifting. However, it was unstable, and, if not stored in its little plastic box, quickly deteriorated into unusable goo.

The current formulation is very close to Faber-Castell's kneadable eraser, which is available in Blick's NYC store, but not online. The Faber-Castell, being slightly softer, is my preference for lifting, but either one is superior to other brands in that respect.

I use this eraser for making fine lines (such as hairs and highlights in my graphite pencil portraits.
Compared to the eraser I was using , this one is like soggy paper, it is too sticky and does not keep its fine point at all. I would not buy this brand ever again.

As far as erasers go, this is the one I use for serious business. It's completely no-mess, as you'd expect from a quality kneaded eraser. I don't find it greasy as other reviewers have said, and I've never seen it leaving marks on my work. Compared to plastic or gum erasers, it's a hands down winner. The box helps to extend the lifespan of the eraser by keeping it from drying prematurely, but its somewhat short life seems to be the only drawback as far as I am concerned. Then again, maybe I just want it to last forever...

After experimenting with tons of erasers this is one of the only two that I ever use. It works beautifully, stays soft and pliable, and I've never had a single problem with it. I recommend it to my blog readers.

I found these erasers to be greasy. They left a stain on the paper. I was glad I was not using them on my current drawing. I would not recommend these. Other kneadable erasers are superior to these. I love Lyra pencils, but these erasers, not.
