Frame Joiner is the best in class
By Avon -- Expressionist

I am glad I bought this joiner and not the lower priced one; While I haven't used the lower priced one, the ability to drive two corner V connectors will save time when I need two Vs in a frame joint. This has been a breeze to assemble and use. The instructions on using it are a bit confusing and I eventually just put a V in the holder and played with a piece of scrap wood and it was a breeze to figure out after I quit trying to memorize what part was being classed what in the instructions. There are videos but I didn't look those up on the web. If you are a hands on learner, you can use this right out of the box within minutes. If I had a complaint, it would be that for larger or long frames, the supports will need to have extensions added -- but that is the case with any joiner on the market. That means all of them will take some "home engineering" to add extensions to support anything over 30 inches for large paintings you might do.

Using the tool to make frames, works great on smaller ones less than 16x20, but had difficulty holding the frame level when I went to the larger ones.. will have to figure out a holding tool for them.

Does the job!
from Havre de Grace, MD
First off, the joiner is well made; sturdy and finished nicely. Next, the directions are clear. Finally, if you follow those directions the joints stabilize the frame nicely (assuming you are also using glue). One caveat: make absolutely, positively sure that your corners are FIRMLY placed in the v-joint of the Pro Joiner. If you do not take the time to double check this, the v-nails can clip off the edge of the frame, thereby ruining it. Having said that, the Pro Joiner does the job quite well. A solid value.
Great, until the frames get too big.

Underpinning moldings works great until the size starts going up, heavy molding 2' long starts getting difficult to put into place and clamp in, currently looking for a work around on the size issue.
Better than expected results

I use the Logan Pro Framing Joiner all the time in my business for making stretchers for my canvases. It is very easy to use and much less expensive than the automatic joiners that sell for thousands of dollars. Before I purchased this joiner I was paying a manufacturer for the stretchers but now I can produce my own for a fraction of the price I used to pay. That puts more money in my pocket when I sell my canvases at art shows.

You get what you pay for

Unless you have three hands this is not the easiest tool to use. There is a learning curve as usual for any new tool but the Pro Joiner did not make it easy to make tight corner joins. Trying to hold the two sticks of molding AND manipulate the devise to hold the corner togeher is quite difficult. I also found that holding the sticks made a better joint but when clamping the the cornerr it tended to roll the pieces. The small work surface will not allow one to make good joins for frames over say 12" Even those are hard to handle. Extension arms on this tool would be helpful. My advise is unless you make picture frames for small works don't buy this. Spend the extra $ and do it right. I bought a professional manual floor model for under 1K. Love it!

Logan does it again

Great product, would have been nice if a DVD/CD had accompanied the item like so many of the other Logan products. The Blick on-line price was the best I found. Would have purchased it at the store, but it was not a regular shelf item.
