Comments about Logan Platinum Edge Mat Cutter 850:

The Logan 850 is a quality product, but the experience and extra tools that were needed to square the squaring arm are probably not in the average person's experience range or tool box. The video that is included with the machine demonstrates a simple method and a few minor adjustments to get the machine squared up and ready to use. The machine I recieved took me about two hours, extra tools that are not included and my experience in order to get the squaring arm square with the cutter bar. I feel Logan has a problem with their assembly and not the manufacturing quality of this product. The two pieces of extruded aluminum that came attached to the base for the squaring arm were attached to the base approximately 3/16" out of square. I had to remove the pieces with an allen wrench, socket and ratchet that did not come with the machine and bore the mounting holes out larger with a cordless drill in order to adjust these pieces exactly square. I hope the people at Logan read this review as I think most people will not go to these lenghts to get the machine to cut square, they probably will just return it after wasting some expensive matt board. Once the machine is squared up and minor adjustmests are made to the stops and cutter blades the machine works great and saves a lot of time when cutting mat.
