Flexible Modeling Paste
A matte, opaque mixture of marble dust and polymer emulsion that is used to build heavy textures and three-dimensional forms on flexible or rigid supports.
Light Modeling Paste
This lightweight, airy, flexible, thick, sculptural gel is specifically formulated to be used in applications where weight is a factor. Used alone, it will dry to a matte opaque white that can readily accept staining if desired. It will not exhibit "mud cracking." It is often used with texture gels.

I have used this in both my studio and my classes. Holds peaks and creates an amazing matte texture to your work. My students love working with the modeling paste - they say it looks like icing on a cake!

I am not impressed with this modeling paste. It cracked before it had completely dried. I hope that I can sand the cracks and fill them in with an acrylic medium, though I won't use this paste again.

Good product but too expensive.
A cooperative medium!

This product works exactly the way I needed it to. Simple as that. It has a stronger smell than I expected so I used it with good ventilation.

a way to fix the cracking
I use this brand of modeling paste regularly as I find it holds detail much better than the golden brand, which has a self-leveling additive that smoothes out fine details while it dries. (Golden is more like glue, Liquitex is more like spackle). To deal with the cracking, I simply let the surface dry, fill in the cracks and go over the entire surface with a thin coat of acrylic gel or matte medium. The medium soaks into the molding paste, retaining the surface detail and leaving the modeled areas totally flexible.
Always on hand!

I use modeling paste to give great texture to my paintings. I palette it on or I just use my hands. I have used MANY brands of modeling paste an dmany types from light to heavy, etc....my favorite BY FAR is Liquitex. I have NEVER had a runny issue (yes one brand was RUNNY), a yellowing, flexibility or drying issue before I was through molding it. I am a heavy modeling paste user (addict I have been called), and Liquitex is THE ONLY BRAND I USE!!! It takes abuse from any type of tool (chopstick, knife, pan, hand, etc.) and holds up and STAYS on the canvas. One tiny complaint I have, is the cracking, but I do know it's because I use so much in one place...it is covered by paint anyway....

Dries quickly, not as flexible
By Artist in Indy

I've used Golden and Liquitex modeling paste since they came on the market. Liquitex versions dry faster than Golden and are not as flexible when totally dry, they are more like drywall mud and less plastic. However, this has it's uses and sometimes it is a better paste for that reason. It does crack a bit when used over 1/8 inch thick and it is better for solid supports rather than canvas. A bit more crumbly than Golden's version, be more careful when carving or sanding. Also, use a mask when sanding, the dust is toxic.
versitle.easy to manipulate.

I use this paste for a variety of folk-art projects and for creating beautiful, mosaic, doll beds. I use it to create stone effects on foam for projects such as tombstones and architectural artwork. It is superior for adding stenciled reliefs and it adheres to every surface I've used it on.
