Liquitex Basics were developed for students and artists who required dependable quality at an economical price. Each color is uniquely formulated to bring out the maximum brilliance and clarity of the individual pigment.

These are heavy-body acrylics with a buttery consistency for easy blending. Their heavy viscosity allows for thick, oil-like painting, retaining peaks and brush marks. They dry to a satin-matte finish, eliminating surface glare.

Basics can be used for a variety of techniques from watercolor, airbrush, and printmaking, to thick applications that simulate oil paint. When dry, these acrylic paints are permanent, water-resistant, and flexible.

Multiple Sizes Available — Liquitex Basics Acrylics are also available in 8 oz Jars, 8.5 oz Tubes, 16 oz Jars, and 32 oz Jars.

High School Painting class. Monochromatic self portraits. Each student chose a tube from this pack. It made a fabulous variety of colors and tints among the classes. Highly recommend it if this may be one of your lesson plans!

The consistency of this paint is just enough between thick and thin. Thick enough to paint with a spatula and thin enough to spread evenly with a brush. And the price beats the craft store I used to shop at until I found this website!

We use Basics in our art school to teach adults and children how to paint. It is an excellent value, the texture remains consistant, the paint mixes well, the colors are vibrant, and you can determine the amount used because of large opening on the jar.

From experience I am learning that Liquitex Basics are not as good as that company's professional-grade acrylics. The colors darken. But if you are a beginner, maybe you will be wise to try one or two colors. I will use the paints as a first layer of multi layered paintings primarily.

I'm taking art class.
I like the oversize caps on the tubes E-Z on and off also like the 4 oz. size it gives me more paint to practice with.
I can't think of any cons,I'm really happy with the product.

Basics paints are the only brand I use. The colors are strong, and blend very easily. They cover a large amount of the canvas, and since I've recently started to paint on large canvases, these are great!

The paints are easy to work with, I am teaching a group of senior artists, and they are pleased with the results they get. I hope the caps remain easy to close, others we have used will not snap shut after two or three uses/ But so far so good.
