I mix the Basic sets, and 4 oz Basic tubes with an expensive, limited color line of acrylics to bump up the colors, and for a broader, working color line. I prefer the Basics variety of color choices over other lines. I find there is very little difference in the working, drying time, and end results between these. The more expensive paints are harder to work with while the Basics are consistently smooth, easy to blend, and cover well. The end results are the same. Basics win every time. Don't let the "Student" label stop you as I did for much too long. These are truly an artists' professional line of paints. I love the Basics.

I love the viscocity of these paints. The tubes contain LOTS, but at a price that makes learning to paint and mix paints painfree.

I started using Liquitex basics but noticed a lot of inconsistency with the flow of the paint and the separation. I decided to try Amsterdam, which I found at my local fine art store and the pigment load seems higher, the tinting strength is better and it was cheaper. I guess it's not as easy to find, but it is all I'll use now. I mean Liquitex is what they sell at the big box stores and I expect more from my real art stores.

When i want something to use that doesn't empty the pocket book, but is a great product i look to liquitex basics. It a great product. They have great colors and really good coverage. I would recommend to anyone who is learning, beginning in painting. And for those with experience these are good when you want to try new techniques.

I have only recently begun painting with acrylics and purchased these to replace some much more expensive paints that had been given to me as a gift a few months ago. I do abstract and lay paint on fairly thickly and this seems to work well. I won't say the paint is as nice at the more expensive brand I started with, which I had a little easier time with, but I like these. I foresee purchasing them again based on price and quality.

It's been ages since I painted in acrylics, so I needed to get all new paints. I picked up the 24 color set and the price can't be beat! I know Liquitex is good quality so there were no worries about that.

For someone who is just getting into (or returning) to acrylic painting, I think the paint sets are a fantastic deal. (The 12 or 24 tube sets are probably good enough. The sets with six tubes are too little and 36+ tubes seem too many.)

The color is creamy and rich and the feel as you drag your brush over canvas is very "painterly." A real treat. For student-grade paints, these are the best deal.

I was amazed by the deal I got on this paint! I'm used to paying so much more, and I hadn't paid attention to the size, so I didn't realize until they arrived how good of a deal I got. I had been used to painting with craft acrylics, so the texture of Basics took some getting used to the first time I bought them, but now I love the thickness and the potential for texture in my paintings, and I think I'll never purchased them from another store again. I paid less for the 4oz tubes here than I do for the smaller tubes at the stores I used to shop.
