Liquitex Acrylic Mediums are made from 100% acrylic polymer emulsion, and form durable films when dry. They have excellent flexibility and resistance to chemicals, water, abrasion and ultraviolet radiation. When added to acrylic paint, they alter the handling characteristics, appearance or volume to produce an infinite variety of effects.
Mediums are non-yellowing, non-sticky when wet, and non-tacky when dry. They dry slowly by evaporation, display excellent adhesion, and are non-toxic and intermixable. Available in different viscosities and sheens.
This medium enhances the workability of Liquitex Acrylics on fabric. It controls bleeding in transparent designs and gives a smooth, consistent flow of paint. Reducing the stiffness that results when using acrylic directly from the jar, it also eliminates the need to scrub roughly textured fabrics in order for paint to adhere to or penetrate surface of the fabric. This fabric medium prevents paint from dragging, skipping, and other uneven applications.
Flexible Modeling Paste
A matte, opaque mixture of marble dust and polymer emulsion that is used to build heavy textures and three-dimensional forms on flexible or rigid supports.
Flow-Aid Fluid Additive
Increases the flow, absorbency, and blending of any water-based paint, ink, or dye. Minimizes brushstrokes. Use with Liquitex Soft Body color to create very fluid washes without hard edges; create staining effects on raw canvas and produce a fluid spray when mixed with acrylics in airbrushes or air guns.
Gel Medium, Gloss
A high viscosity medium, it dries to a crystal clear gloss finish for sparkling, transparent impastos and textured glazes. Translucent when wet, it is transparent to translucent when dry depending on the thickness of the application. An ideal paint extender, it increases the brilliance and transparency of color without changing paint thickness, resulting in paint similar in color depth to oil paint. Use it as an extender, a ground, or as the binder for powdered pigments to make an inexpensive "student grade" high viscosity thick gloss paint.
Gel Medium, Gloss Heavy
A heavy-bodied medium of great density and extra high viscosity, Heavy Gel dries to a translucent gloss finish. It increases body, density and viscosity, attaining the consistency of oil paint with brush or palette knife marks. Extending paint while increasing brilliance and transparency, it keeps paint workable longer than other gel mediums. Use it as an extender, a ground, or a binder for powdered pigments to make an inexpensive "student grade" extra-heavy viscosity thick gloss paint.
Gel Medium, Matte
A high viscosity medium, Matte Gel displays the same qualities as the Gel Medium, except that it dries to a satin, matte finish, and has greater adhesive abilities. Use it as an extender, as a ground, for impasto effects, or as a binder for powered pigments to make an inexpensive "student grade" high viscosity thick matte paint.
Gel Medium, Super Heavy Gloss
A superior adhesive for collage and mixed media projects, or create sculptural effects and high-peak consistency. Dries clear to translucent depending upon thickness, with very low shrinkage. Flexible, non-yellowing, and water-resistant when dry.
Liquitex Gloss Medium is also known as "Gloss Medium Varnish." Use it as a non-removable final picture varnish where a glossy protective coat is desired, or as a painting and glazing medium. It enhances the depth of color intensity, increases transparency and gloss, eases the flow of paint, and adds flexibility and adhesion to the paint film. Translucent when wet, and transparent when dry, this 100% acrylic polymer varnish is water-soluble when wet and can be thinned. Use it as an extender, a fixative, a ground, or a varnish.
Note — Liquitex Gloss Medium is also known as "Gloss Medium Varnish." We disagree with this terminology, because a varnish must technically be removable from the paint surface. Use a true varnish if, for conservation reasons, the varnish must be removable at a later date.

Iridescent Tinting Medium
Producing a range of iridescent or metallic colors when mixed with acrylics, this medium viscosity medium allows the artist to control iridescent intensity. It is opaque when wet, transparent to translucent when dry, and will not oxidize.
Liquitex Palette Wetting Spray
Liquitex Palette Wetting Spray slows drying time of acrylic color on palette or canvas. It also improves color blending. Simply spray and re-spray as needed to prevent acrylic paint from skinning over.
This archival gel additive boasts a unique polymer formula that thickens acrylic paints and mediums without adding transparency. Used in small amounts, it produces handling characteristics very close to that of oil or encaustic paint. At higher concentrations, it can thicken paint or mediums to a "cake-like," sculptural consistency. It dries to a matte sheen in anywhere from 24 hours to 7 days, depending on the amount used.
Mix medium viscosity Matte Medium with acrylic colors for completely matte, dull and flat effects and a non-reflecting finish. When mixed with acrylic paint, it extends color, increases transparency, matte and film integrity, eases paint flow, and adds to the flexibility and adhesion of paint film. It is opaque when wet and translucent when dry. Use it as an extender, a fixative, or a ground. Mix with Gloss Medium for a semi-gloss or satin medium.
This extra high viscosity paste is made from marble dust and 100% polymer emulsion. Suitable for building heavy textures on rigid supports and three-dimensional forms, it dries to the hardness of stone. It can be textured while wet and sanded or carved when dry. Dry paste out in the container for use as clay. Drying too quickly on surfaces causes cosmetic, not structural cracking. Modeling paste adheres to any non-oily, absorbent surface. When it is mixed with acrylic colors, it acts as a weak tinting white while increasing thickness and rigidity. Used extensively for decorating picture frames, it can be used for sculptural or paper-mache purposes, rigid support, flexible support, and as an absorbent or non-absorbent ground.
Designed to reduce crazing in poured applications, this fluid medium dries clear, glossy, and flexible. Mixed with soft body palette color, it is ideal for pouring puddles and acrylic sheets.
Slow-Dri Blending Fluid
This clear-drying Blending Fluid is uniquely formulated for superior surface blending with acrylics. Add up to 50% of this medium without jeopardizing the strength of the paint. It increases the "open" working time up to 40%. Great for forming softer edges and modeled forms. It dries clear, and is flexible, non-yellowing, and water-resistant when dry.
Slow-Dri Fluid Retarder
Use this additive with Liquitex Acrylics to extend drying time. It increases transparency when floating, shading, blending, and washing colors. Use Slow-Dri Fluid Retarder in place of water before loading the brush with paint, to eliminate drag and improve flow. It helps to reduce paint skinning on the palette, and is excellent for liner work, transparent washes, and wet-on-wet techniques. Cleans up with soap and water.
This clear-drying gel has characteristics similar to Slow-Dri Blending Fluid. Use it where retention of brushstrokes and impasto effects are desired. It increases the "open" working time up to 40%. It dries clear, and is flexible, non-yellowing, and water-resistant when dry.
Slow-Dri Gel Retarder
Use this additive with Liquitex Heavy Body Artist Color, Liquitex Heavy Body Mediums, and all other acrylic paints and mediums when working in low humidity, or whenever increased workability and blending time are desired. Similar to Slow-Dri Fluid Retarder (except in a heavy-body, thick consistency), Slow-Dri Gel Retarder also retains brushstrokes and adds body when added to to lower-viscosity colors such as Liquitex Soft Body Artist Color and Soft Body Mediums. Add no more than 25% to paint, as the absence of a binder may weaken the stability of the paint film if too much is added.
Enhances depth of color, while increasing transparency and flow. Dries glossy and transparent with a honey-like consistency. It is also permanent, non-yellowing, flexible, and water-resistant.
Super Heavy Matte Gel
Extra heavy body for thickening and blending acrylic color. It extends the volume and increases transparency, while slowing drying time. Translucent finish retains high peaks, crisp brush, and knife strokes.
Ultra Matte Gel
Use ultra Matte Gel to extend paint up to double amounts without changing color position. Dries to a matte finish, maintaining color opacity.

I have used several mediums but the pouring medium is amazing. Blends with any color and has a great consistency. Quick dry time, and solid glazing effect.

Incredible Multi-Purpose Sealant & Medium

So many uses for the versatile Liquitex Acrylic Medium. One of my favorite examples that proves how durable it is: sealing custom painted furniture. I was commissioned to paint intricate details on a conference table and chairs, and even though it was put into use the moment it was cured, it has held up flawlessly to heavy use in a busy insurance office for 7 years. No re-touching necessary. Hard to believe that a medium with such permanency can also take varying temperatures and pressure - people sitting on it, and writing on it) - without showing signs of impression, cracking, or dulling the gloss finish. Liquitex Acrylic Medium will not let you down and can exceed your expectations as long as you use it as recommended for drying time and application. Always brush on in one direction, do not go over areas that the product has already been applied to that are not dry, and do not shake the medium. Brush with an even stroke to avoid creating bubbles or foaming (indicated by increasingly opaque white tint). I used a cheap foam brush and replaced it as it lost flexibility. Clean up immediately with warm water and soap and wear latex examination gloves if you wish. I have both the gloss and matte finish in my arsenal of tried-and-true tools for excellence in delivering high quality fine art to my clients.

I'm using this to put a smoother, harder surface on celluclay. Works great but note the difference between modeling paste (contains marble dust) and molding paste.
