Welcome to dickblick
Similar to the leather that commercial binderies use for elegant books and albums, it features a semi-gloss sheen, is durable, and wraps with ease around book corners.
The bonded leather book cloth is .016" (.4 mm) thick and comes in rolled sheets.

Great book cloth but almost too small
from Clearwater, FL
Comments about Lineco Leather Book Cloth:
This book cloth is a good quality and very easy to work with but the roll is very small. I was binding a book with approximately letter/A4 sized pages and this cloth just barely did the trick, I would have liked it just a little longer in fact. I knew it was going to be a tight fit but do with there were other sizes easily avaiable. FOr a smaller book it would be perfect.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought this leather book cloth to cover a small journal I'am in the process of making and it has been a dream to work with. I used tacky glue to keep it in place, and no problems what so ever! It's thin enough to where you can use a simple pair of scissors to cut off excess, but thick enough that you won't stab a finger through it. It's a deep dark almost chocolate brownish color and has a nice shine to it. I personally didn't want it to look that nice so I took some sand paper to it to age it a bit. Turned out perfect.

great for early binders.
from dublin ohio
Sure, this isn't amazing stuff. It isn't fine Italian leather. But just starting out in binding I didn't want to spend 4 times the money on the best. I will move to that later. Anyone who buys this expecting perfection is going to be disappointed. If you want something better than paper bug without the cost of a real skin, this is an excellent option.Ive made a dozen books with this and had no issues.

The "brown leather"
The "brown leather" (8010) is very shiny and very red. I'm not sure it's real leather either, but I can't be sure. But I doubt it. It might be reconstituted from organic goo and pressed in a mold or something.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Not usable for bookbinding
By sad binder
from ny, ny
I'm not sure what this could be used for, but it is definitely not usable for bookbinding. Feels like plastic- is in no way "supple" and will not bend around edges. I attempted to pre-wet the material (not sure what it is made of- if it is actually leather it must be treated with something) then applied wheat paste- no amount of working it with the bone folder would get it to mold around the corners. Completely wasted my time and good pieces of book board. Sooooooooo disappointed :(

A complete cheat.
By Matt O'Fact
from Hart Dove, MN
I ordered one black and one brown roll of this "leather". It is NOT leather. It's a vinyl-like material with paper pressed to the backside. It MELTS when in contact with moisture or humidity, and it has zero elasticity. It is completely unusable as anything other than a book covering for an EXTREMELY skilled bookmaker. Any tiny gap or bubble will let in moisture and the entire covering will fall off. I have shown the "leather" to several people, and none of them believe that there is as much as 10% leather in the material. It was a complete scam and theft, and I would not recommend it to anyone for anything.
