Abaca self-adhesive hinging tape is superior to other self-adhesive hinging materials because it incorporates the strength and supple nature of the Abaca paper with a very strong adhesive, attributes that are especially important in today's digital world.
Preferable to gummed tapes that can be risky to use with Giclee inkjet prints because of their water-sensitivity, self-adhesive tapes are a much safer alternative.
Abaca is strong enough to hold large digital prints and supple enough to adhere to prints without cupping or distorting. Also eco-friendly, Abaca paper is produced without using acid, it is biodigradable, and it is derived from a self-sustainable, quick-growing plant.

Comments about Lineco Abaca Self-Adhesive Hinging Tape:
While I would consider the traditional hinging process of wheat starch paste and Japanese paper to be the best, the drying time turns the simplest hinging into a long affair. The self adhesive hinging tape is nice for rapid results. I would prefer an adhesive that could be loosened with water, but this requires mineral spirits to remove, which I would hesitate to use on the back of an artwork. The fact that it is a softer white, and that it is a very thin fibrous abaca paper, helps to keep it from showing through artwork that is on thin paper. With such things like bright white hinging linen tape, the whiteness can show through thin paper works and distort the image. This abaca hinging tape helps to limit that greatly. Again, the only problem I have is that I would rather not use something that requires mineral spirits being applied if I should have to remove them in the future.

This tape is both convenient and strong. Its thin cross-section and non-woven texture make it especially effective.
A good tape for art work
Very nice quality hinging tape, my only complaint is that it's extremely difficult to remove the tape from the backing.
so easy to use

The box explains how to use the product and it is so much easier to use than what I have used in the past. The best part: it is acid free.

Very Hard To Remove Backing
By Boppin Bobby
from Naples, FL
The tape itself performs OK. But, removing the backing from the tape to expose the adhesive side is VERY VERY difficult. If mounting a many pieces were being undertaken, it would consume a lot of time and money. The product must be improved in this respect.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for your feedback. A trick I have found that might help is to take a pencil eraser and push at the corner to lift the tape off the backing paper.

I am using this product to mount photographs to mounting board. I had a heavy watercolor print to mount and I found it very hard to do with this tape. Maybe I wasn't doing it right but I ended up having to also tape the sides down. The top hinges were not holding it secure. On the other hand I did use it for a regular matte photo print and it worked okay.the other problem I had was trying to separate the backing from the actual tape. I ended up using a common pin to get it started. The other thing was the price. When you include the shipping charges, it is way overpriced for the amount of product you get.

I had been looking for an archival, self-adhesive (so there are no water buckles) delicate tape for mounting my smaller works on 140 lb. paper. This tape has just enough adherence, lays very flat, and shows no lumps in the paper where mounted. It seems like it may be a little too lightweight for heavier work. I also trust this brand as I have used it for years. I have yet to see a piece unadhere two weeks out, so hopefully that will stay the case.
Does the job
I'm fairly new to using quality materials for mounting my photos. If you pulled apart most of the frames on my wall, you'd see prints taped to mats with blue painter's tape or clear scotch tape. No duct tape though (I don't think). So, when I recently purchased some frames and mats from Blick, I decided to also pick up some proper mounting tape.I mounted several of my photos with t-hinges to the backer boards of my mats prior to framing. At first I had some difficulty with this tape. It was hard to pull the backing off the tape to expose the adhesive. Then I realized this tape was meant to be torn off the roll, and not cut precisely with scissors. Tearing the tape off leaves a slightly frayed edge which makes it easier to find a separation point between the backing and the tape. After figuring that out, things went fairly smoothly. The tape is easy to work with, is immediately repositionable, and seems to be holding my photos just fine. The price seemed high at first, but purchasing the 150' box works out to be about $0.06 per print, which is really insignificant when compared with the cost of the print, mat, and frame.I would purchase this product again.

Use this product to mount photographs. It had been mentioned by some other photographers on a forum site, so thought I would try it. Easy to use, light weight, adheres well.
