Great paper, fast shipping
from San Juan, Puerto Rico
This paper works beautifully with inks, both wet and dry. The colors retain their brightness in the washes and I can draw details with very fine points .
nice quality paper
By Mrs. Art Teacher
from Farmington, Mo
The paper quality is what I expected, and I thought the price was good for archival quality. The paper was listed as good for printmaking, and that might be the case unless you are hand printing like I am. I found it was too thick to make a good transfer. More specific details in the product info might be good.
Great drawing surface but lousy packing by DB
Great textured surface for anyone wanting to draw on something other than the medium surfaces available in the typical drawing pad. However, the corners were all bent because DB shipped it with larger mat boards I ordered and wrapped the shrink wrap around the board and counted on the pressure of the shrink wrap to hold the smaller paper in place as FedX handled the packages. It didn't and the paper got shoved to the corner of the package inside and dinged up the corners.
Not a good option for intaglio
This paper would probably be best for drawing and painting or even relief printmaking but not a good option for intaglio. Difficult to handle while damp and does not have the feel of other 290GSM papers. No deckled edges or watermark which is sought after for hand pulled prints. I'd consider Stonehenge or American Masters instead.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

WORKS NICELY WITH HEAVY-BODY ACRYLICS
By Jim F.
from Phoenix, AZ
I've always found the surface of canvas too "draggy" and Legion Coventry is a pleasure to paint on. I give it a coat or two of gesso before painting and once it dries there's minimal waviness. Another nice thing is that at 290 gsm it rolls easily into a mailing tube for inexpensive shipping. Love this stuff!

No-frills bargain WC paper works well
I'm an illustrator, working mostly on HP watercolor paper. I have a stock of Arches, Saunders, Strathmore Kid finish, Fabriano Uno & Artistico, and Coventry Rag. Most come with 2 or 4 deckel edges; Coventry, like Strathmore 400 & 500, doesn't. Nonetheless, it works as well as any of them, taking the color crisply, no bleed, more or less like Strathmore Kid 2-ply. The weight is around #140. Anyway, it's thicker than #90, so I don't have to stretch or mount it. It's 100% rag, but it's cheaper than most of the others. So it doesn't have a deckel edge or a watermark, or an embossing? Big deal.It works beautifully.
