Lefranc & Bourgeois extra-fine vinyl-based paint dries evenly with intense coverage to a uniform, velvety matte, opaque finish.

Highly pigmented, Flashe may be diluted with water to create a range of results, from highly opaque to a transparent watercolor effect.

Use Flashe Vinyl Paint indoors or out on canvas, paper, or walls, with brushes, paint guns, or sponges. The supple film offers good adherence and resistance to weather — ideal for fresco and wall painting, faux finishes, theater decorations, and more.

Loving Flashe paints

I am really liking these vinyl paints because they have a lovely matte velvety finish as opposed to the glossy plastic look of acrylics. These paints are densely pigmented too for solid opaque coverage, or can be water diluted to treat almost like a water color wash. Nice product.

I have been looking for this kind of paint..just Bold and Opaque, but in acrylics kind of medium. And finally...this is the one! Finished like gouache , paint like acrylics!

Unparalleled Effect at a Price

It takes some getting used to, but lives up to the billing when it comes to durability, smooth spread without the acrylic drag, high pigment content that tolerates a liberal water medium, and an amazing, velvety surface when dry. However, if its the velvety, matte finish that you want to retain, I find that it is vulnerable when used on canvas. It easily goes shiny if rubbed or leaves a chalky-like mark if even lightly scratched and will absorb skin oil if handled carelessly. Maybe that's the trade-off with acrylic, which is much more forgiving untreated. Spray varnishes, even satin or matte varnishes, turn the painting surface into an acrylic look and you've lost some of the stunning quality the vinyl delivers to the eye. But if you're not going for that unique velvety look and plan to varnish, why would you use anything else?!

When I first started painting, my professor required us to use flashé paint; I am grateful she introduced me to it. It is not as difficult to work like gouache paint (ugh, it was murder to touch the colors up after it dries, esp if attempting to get flat colors). I also prefer it over acrylic, since that has a very plasticy feel to it and often dries darker than intended. A great paint for beginners since its not as costly as oil and not as fussy as other water-based paints..

I use this paint on my sculptures which are made of masonry and sealed with a pigmented shellac. This paint is very, very concentrated, and dries to a smooth matte finish. The paint film is very tough. The colors are fresh and clean and feel a bit like gouache or fine tempera. I have not noticed a big color shift from wet to dry. I recommend them highl

I use this paint to paint ontop of polymer clay. It has a beautiful matte finish and works great with sculpey glazes. Very bright and clean colors.
