Technology meets tradition in this sumi brush fountain pen. The Kuretake Brush Pen is exquisitely designed in Japan, with super-fine nylon bristles for smooth, controlled strokes. It's supplied with three jet black ink cartridges.
Keep the pen cap securely in place when pen is not in use to protect the nib from drying out. If the nib does dry, run it under luke warm water. Pat dry and replace cap.
Only use Kuretake cartridges with this pen. Use once, then discard. Attempting to refill the cartridges may result in leaking.
Box of 5, with jet black ink.

A fun and high-quality brush pen
By Stacy Creates
from Tucson, Arizona
I am new to brush pens, but I appreciate them as a really convenient, hassle-free, and relatively inexpensive way to get varying line width in you ink lines for drawing and sketching (compared to a dip pen or a flexible nib fountain pen or a brush and ink bottle). I have a Pentel Pocket brush but hadn't taken to it, finding it a little "much" and a bit difficult to control. I had read good reviews of this pen so to fill out an order to obtain free shipping I decided to give this one a shot. I am happy I did because I am taking to this brush pen much better. I feel I can really control the line width, from a tiny thin line to a much bolder one. The flow is just right. I paint over my ink drawings with watercolor afterwards, so I filled a Platinum ink converter with Platinum Carbon Black and installed it in the Kuretake brush pen right away (rather than one of the provided ink cartridges which contain water-soluble ink). It works perfectly!

Simply put, this brush pen is a joy to use.
Beautiful product, resiliant brush tip smoothly creates expressive linework.
My decades old staple
from Morgantown, WV
Great, refillable option for cartooning quickly over cartoon. This is my fourth and it's only because I lost or stepped on the first three. First was in the late 80's. There's always a place for this pen in any illustrator's tool bag.
Best brush pen I've had so far
from Troy Ny
Fantastic brush pen that uses ink cartridges. I like the flow of it, more smooth than some other varieties that are cheaper. You definitely get what you pay for with this.
Fantastic, handy & precise tool
from Crestone, Co
This brush pen is so good because it has a real brush as it's tip not a felt tip that loses its sharpness over a short use time. The other good thing is the even flow of ink.
from Va Beach, VA
the bristles are high quality and only need washing with water when they dry up.
Absolutely love it
from Kansas City, MO
I used to buy cheaper brush pens but the refills would come dried out a lot so not only is this pen better (prettier, slick bristles, nice weight and width), but it's worth the price and refills are easy!
Love this pen!
I love the kuretake pen! Very smooth & lines can be as thick or thin as you want, but it takes practice! I wish the box came w/English instructions but the diagram on the box is sufficient to know how to put the cartridge in. Just push til you hear a click/pop. Highly recommended
My new favorite pen!
from Long Island, NY
I can't believe how good this pen is. I have been using the Pentel brush Pen, which is a VERY good pen for some time, but I wanted to try something new. I heard about the Kuretake pen before, but that it required a bit more control. Well, whoever said that wasn't kidding, but it requires control in a good way. The pen is very well made which makes it extremely versatile, so a good, steady, controlled hand will allow you to achieve quite a lot with it than other brush pens. It's also pretty good with ink consumption. All-in-all this is a no-brainer for anyone looking to either purchase their first brush pen or add to their tool set.
