Cheaply made, will rip
from Oakland, CA
I needed the largest size, so maybe this is why this happened, but they were such a pain to get the prints in the sleeve. I ordered a pack of 25 because I needed 25, but 5 of them ripped being removed from the outer packaging and two I ripped while trying to put prints in them that were actually smaller than the size of the envelopes. I guess buy more than you need.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love these things!

I have sold pastel artworks and found these bags to be a real help both for storing finished paintings and sketches, and for selling them. I cut a mat and use one the size of the mat exterior for selling.Lately since I retired I've been doing medieval recreation and pen-gouache scroll creation for my medieval group. I make award scrolls for the club for contests, tournaments and service awards. These wind up having to travel out of state, usually by hand passed to another member who's going to the event, to go into a folder for giving out at the event. I don't make it to all the events by a long shot. These bags give tough storage in a way that's also easy to show off the art. It can be handled by people without losing its integrity or getting any damage. The gouache paintings are as fragile in their own way as the pastels and inevitably someone's going to sneeze or spill liquid - but the seals are excellent and they don't get rained on. Nor have any artworks I mailed arrived with water damage. If I don't mat the art, I will cut a same-size piece of mat board as a stiffener for the art unless the art's on a stiff board to begin with. It's cheaper to just get these bags in bulk in my most common sizes and cut my own mats, always has been. They're something I'd recommend to the frugal artist any time.I have tried other solutions but they're either not as sturdy or the art isn't as easily visible.
I'm buying more of these in different sizes
from Easton, MD
I haven't tried any competative alternatives. Professional artist friends recommended this product so that's what I bought and I'm extremely happy with it. I need a few more sizes for book illustrations. Blick's price is competitive -- the lowest I found on a quick search. The shipment arrived very quickly as well. Thanks, Blick!

Excellent for protecting prints, drawings and watercolors

They are thick enough so they do not tear, they are reseable without a hassle and along with providing protection from dust, moisture, these give a finished professional look to your artwork and photos

I bought these to hold mounted photographs for sale. The bags are just fine. But I'm searching for an option to add punched tags to the top so the prints could be hung from a rack rather than stored flat or in a box.
Finally found affordable cello bags for posters!!!
from Lockwood, CA
I've looked high and low for clear cellophane bags for posters and prints -- and then I found them right here at Dick Blick! These bags are perfect -- with just enough extra allowance so that the print can have its supporting cardboard backing and still slide in and out smoothly. And, they shipped so fast that the bags arrived before my prints did! And they had all the different sizes I needed -- 11x17, 16x20, 11x14. Perfect.
An excellent product and will definitely purchase again.

I used the Krystal self sealing photo bags for my photo cards and matted photos in a Camera Show.
Care for works on paper

These plastic sleeves come in various sizes, and were used to protect collagrpah prints. A sleve will hold several dozen or individually. They are strong enough to resist tearing.
