Comments about Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph Universal Ink:
Choosing the manufacturer's ink for use in the Rapidograph pens is a no brainer. It is important to have a non-clogging ink in such pens as they will function better over extended periods of time. Experience with a common brand of india ink found that the Rpidographe pens dried up a lot and clogged. Frequent thorough cleaning was required. Later I learned that particular ink was a 'dirty' ink and in the application I was using not a good choice. Different writing instruments require differnt ink formulations. Also, for artists using ink washes differenf inks have various effects and the intended effect will dictate the brand of ink because of their formulation.

Not so opaque
from NY NY
The product is advertised as "Opaque white" and is a "Universal" ink that can be used in rapidographs. However in reality the product is not opaque what so ever and unless diluted (causing further transparency) the ink is too thick for rapidopraphs, even at the larger nib sizes. Seer clear of this product.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for your review. We've tested this white in Rapidographs, so we can confirm that it does work, but we understand what you mean about opacity. Although the ink is by no means transparent, technical pens lay down such a small volume that it won't completely cover dark colors on an absorbent surface without multiple passes. Perfect for line drawings

Great for line drawings that copy well.
Easy refil on the cartridge of the rapidograoh pen. I would order this again again instead of the individual cartridges.
The best ink for comics!
By Michael Yakutis
from Crescent City, CA
I've tried countless inks out there and this is the best for producing sequential art. For me, anyways. Works great with a brush or a nib and is very dark. It does not have a shine to it like a lot of other inks so it scans cleaner. It's costs a little more than, say, Higgins. But it's very much worth it. -Professional comic book artist-
The best rapidograph ink
I've used other Koh-I-Noor brand inks over the years but this is the one that never lets me down.
great for certain things
from new england
i use this in rapidographs 10% of the time (it's a bit thicker for the pen for sure though) , but 90% for brush and quill work. its doesn't dry as quick in the reservoir as some of the other brands and stands up to erasing better than the rapidraw 3084. it was a nice find for me and definitely has it's place i think.

white doesn't work, separated liquid
By tech pen user
Universal opaque white does not flow smoothly out of a 1.0 pen, immediately after a filling. Ink in the bottle shows liquid separation after being set aside for several days. I had better luck with trans-mix-media white in the same pen.

It is the ink or the pen. Can't be the pen since it works fine with Ultradraw black. Does not flow at all in the new Rapidograph pens. Tried different papers, different pen sizes. No success. Tried it in a Speedball nib--did not flow at all. I conclude this ink is defective or beyond its shelf life.I would return it for refund, but the shipping charges to me would probably exceed the cost of the ink. Does not conform to usual Blick quality.
Merchant response: We apologize, it sounds as though you have received defective product. At Blick we attempt to send out every order free from defect or damage. However, these types of issues do arise occasionally.
