Technical pens were the mainstay of the designer and illustrator's craft before the development of computer graphics. Now, many artists and design professionals are rediscovering the technical pen because its handiwork, in expert hands, stands out almost magically against the bland precision of computer rendered graphics.
Dependability and high performance make Rapidograph technical pens the first choice among artists, designers, drafters, architects, and hobbyists. Rapidograph pens provide uninterrupted, productive drawing time.
Each Rapidograph pen has a white plastic barrel with a refillable ink reservoir (pens do not come filled with ink), and a color-coded cap and point section. The double-seal cap is air-tight to keep the point from drying out.
Each pen is identified by a standard point size or by its line width expressed in millimeters. (Point sizes do not correspond to points in the point/pica system of typographic measure.) Replacement point sections are available for all pens.
For optimum performance, use with Koh-I-Noor Ultradraw Waterproof Ink or Trans-Mix Media Brilliant Ink.

Rapidograph pens lay down dense, even-flowing ink lines of controlled and predetermined widths. Any type and color of ink can be used.
The pen's stainless steel nib handles as easily as a pencil. It can move in any direction, and on virtually any drawing surface, with very little hand pressure.

Best pens ever

Comments about Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph Pens:
I used these pens back in 1970 as a graphic artist, but there was no easy way to keep the nibs clear back then. However, I recently ordered the set of 7 pens and also ordered the cleaning kit. I look forward to a long and happy relationship with my new pens. You will never regret buying these top-quality pens.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph Pens
from Dover, DE
Before I became a watercolor artist, I was a Civil Draftsman. Either Mylar or vellum was used to draw plans on. Koh-I-Noor pens were always used, but we had to use the much more expense diamond or titanium points. When I would create a painting, I would draw the picture first in pencil, then go over it in ink(pen-stainless steel point) and then erase the graphite. I then would be left with an ink image that is then really to paint. Koh-I-Noor pens the best pens for this process. Koh-I-Noor pens are the only ink pens I'll ever use.Koh-I-Noor pens seem help distinguish or separate similar objects in color. These pens can make an object seem to pop.
Take Care of Them; They take Care of You

I use Rapidograph pens both for drawing and writing. I have a few of these pens that have lasted a decade or more. If you clean them gently and frequently, the ink flow is excellent. The points are rigid, so you will not get a varied line, but you can get different thicknesses by using different width points. And over the years I have found their customer support to be superb.
great line control

Ink flows beautifully. Purchased for my sons art class. . It works great but he has a bit of a heavy hand and the pen has such a fine tip that he snaps the tip off. I have had to replace the tip 3x this semester. I'm sure it would last far longer if treated more gently.
I love my pens and Dick Blick is the place to buy them Thank

Make sure you buy ink

It may sound so obvious to people who have used Koh-i-noor pens before but, as a regular Rotring user, a heads up that the individual pens don't come with ink would be nice. Which, is not the fault of the product itself (an excellent and reasonable stand-in for the much more expensive Rotring Rapidoraphs) and more a fault of the web site.....tl;dr, great pen, would buy again.
Best product in technical drawing pens, but has issues.
from Subiaco, Arkansas
I am an high school art teacher that uses the Koh-I-Noor pens for an advanced art class in order to produce quality pen and ink drawings. I have used this product for over forty years. When the pens are working correctly, they are fantastic. However, they tend to stop up easily, leak around the tip and are pricing themselves out of my range. You can buy a complete new tip, but they run almost as expensive as an entire new pen. It would be convenient to be able to buy replacement parts instead of the entire tip assembly.

Hello, I use pens in my art work. I create unique pen and ink pictures using the stippling method for shading. My two favorites are the .25 and the .18 tips. I use a .5 tip for heavy shading, the .25 for medium and the .18 for areas in the most light. I have spent a considerable amount on these pens over the last four years, but well worth the cost based on the results I have achieved by using them. I have included a picture of my work using the pens, I really appreciate the pens and use them every day. Thanks for asking Regards: Gary
