These pencils are excellent for sketching ideas and laying out drawings. You get a lot more drawing material for your money buying Progressos rather than the traditional wood encased pencils. On top of that, the quality of the graphite is superb. You cannot go wrong with this product.

The huge art supply store in my area went out of business, the old but small store has a sporadic inventory, so I was forced to go online to find Koh-i-Noor 9B pencils---- all other brands of 9B are inferior in that the darkest hue they produce is still a dark GRAY... Koh-I-Noor is the only brand that gives a virtual BLACK as a starting point in shading dark to light. I use them with a inked outline to make drawings that replicate the look of the black and gray tattooing I do, as an example to land the sale of the tattoo and for large presentation flash. Fast delivery, great product!

I purchased this pencil b/c I wanted a soft pencil to write on the back of my darkroom prints. It exceeded my expectations and other people are impressed that it's total graphite and no filler. It sharpens beautifully. I won't go back to "normal" pencils.
