The Progresso's solid, weighty feel and excellent laydown make it a great pencil for drawing and sketching.
An economical choice, these lacquer-coated, blendable graphite pencils outlast standard wood-cased pencils.
Sharpen the Progresso in any electric or manual pencil sharpener.

Comments about Koh-I-Noor Progresso Woodless Graphite Pencils:
New to this item, but thus far it has been superb at putting down value and sketching. As the entire shaped 'point' is graphite, you can get those nice wide bands/lines of value. I've only used the 2B and compared to others, I find this a bit harder (lays down a bit lighter than most 2Bs), and it literally sharpens 'harder' meaning you'd have to work at over sharpening it unlike most other pencils. As well, the pencil itself feels substantial, which I like, and I do imagine it will provide a lot of use. Overall, I believe this will be a useful pencil for gesture work, sketching, and laying value. I plan on buying some softer ones and seeing how they work.

These pencils are great for sketching on paper or canvasEasy to use
Perfect for thin, dark and rich lines

After testing a large variety of pencils and wood less pencils, I have settled on this one. Once sharpened it is capable of producing super crispy lines, typically lasting longer than other brands and more importantly making super rich markings. The quality of the graphite is unlike any other.

excellent quality, smooth, silky graphite, no sand or grit issues when shading.
Best Pencil for travel sketching

I love these pencils for sketching in my portrait drawing group and also for travel. You can sharpen them to a fine point and they don't break or leave a mess of wood shavings They are great for putting in broader areas with the side of the point and since they are solid graphite, they last for a long time. They can make your hands a little messy but really not enough to worry about.

I'm a first time user. I've taken drawing and other art classes, but this is the first time a Woodless Graphite Pencil was recommended.I sharpened it with a hand sharpener. Then, curious, I tried using the debris/filings to smudge. Worked great. Later, I learned that charcoal won't work over graphic. Hmmm

I love these pencils! I will definitely purchase them again

I am a pencil artist and I was very frustrated when purchasing pencils from art stores locally. When sharpening them, I discovered the leads were broken inside the wood. The small segments of lead would drop out and before I knew it, my pencils were ground down to the nub. I starting browsing through Dick Blick and discovered these Koh-I-Noor brand pencils. I decided to give them a try. The prices are great! I asked the sales rep to have extra packaging material placed around them to ship, which they generously did, and I have not had any problem with them having broken lead. I had never used this brand pencil before. I was simply amazed! They sharpen to a very fine point and the graphite glides on smooth with richness and boldness like I've never used before. Try them! You will be amazed!

I am very pleased with my recent purchase of the koh-l-noor Progresso woodless graphite pencils. I use these pencils in my graphite work. They are great when you have a large area that you need to fill in l.....I especially like the 9b for how dark it gets........there is only one thing that is I wouldn't exactly call bad, just a little bit of an inconvenience is that it takes more layers to get the coverage that I get from my other pencils, other then that tiny bit they are some of the best pencils I have worked with.

Have to admit that I didn't know that pencils came in so many different types. Had no clue until I came across pencils on the site and decided to try them after reading the reviews. Have a project with others and my task was to order pencils. We were so amazed with how the type of pencil changed our drawings. It goes without saying that we are not artists, but this is a game changer for us all. No more #2 pencils for us :)!!

Great but, but with one caveat
from Glendale, Arizona USA
I find these to be an excellent value and to perform nearly flawlessly. Why "nearly?" Because once in a great while, when using these pencils, I encounter a tiny solid particle in the pencil, which can score the paper on which I am working. Without that occasional glitch, I would consider this product to be perfect. The alternative that I have found are the Faber-Castell woodless graphite pencils, but they cost several times as much. However, I have not encountered such "glitches" yet with the Faber-Castell product.
