This may be the last easel you'll ever buy, not just because of its rugged construction, but because it's so versatile. Adjust it for any kind of work.
It securely holds paintings up to 96" tall, in a backward or forward tilt. (Note the sturdy steel adjustment levers.) The upper clamp holds the canvas in any position (no twisting).
A non-slip canvas tray automatically locks into place at any up or down position. Smooth plastic ball feet protect the floor. The double mast extension and "H" frame are made of 1¼" (32 mm) steel tubing, electrically welded for permanent strength. It easily folds flat for compact storage.
Optional Easel Tray
Heavy-duty 14-gauge steel tray keeps your supplies easily accessible. It attaches instantly and securely to your Klopfentein easel. No assembly is required. Measures 1½"H × 20"L × 4"W (4 cm × 51 cm × 10 cm).

Comments about Klopfenstein PE 100 Steel Art Easel:
My new easel arrived in 3 days! After much research and review of wood studio easels, I'm very glad to have selected this steel easel. It has most features that I wanted: handles small to large canvases; very sturdy, well-built; adjustments to canvas holders and tilt are easy and made without removing the canvas; tilts to 90°+ 5; canvas bottom can be just above floor to 92" high; adapts to my 7'6" ceiling. Customer service was great!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Very pleased with the PE101! Spoiled by Klopfenstein
from Houston, TX
Used Klopfenstein Easels at two separate colleges (CE100 and PE100). The PE100 was definitely the nicer of the two, but I found the upper tilt arm clamp to be unnecessary for my practice (though it was helpful when using any large, flimsy drawing board). I am very happy with the PE101. The auto locking tray clamp is very sturdy - almost too sturdy. After shipping, I noticed small ridges where the tray was located during the shipping process. As I have used the easel (it is a dream!) more ridges have developed, but that is nothing a little steel wool and lubricant can solve. (Non-clamp easel trays that use a screw mechanism also develop indents from usage.) Overall, this is an excellent product that can accommodate large, heavy paintings. With the proper care, I bet this easel will last decades. A rewarding investment with the right price!

This Easel fits the bill: Very solid, can tilt forward passed vertical, yet stay stable. Folds flat in the back of my SUV. A bit heavy but I don't care. It is as compact as possible for something that can handle a very large canvas.I expect it to be indestructible. Have easel, will travel.
Should Last a Lifetime
My Son loved his Christmas gift. I wish I had one. The Easel is solid and well built. Should last a lifetime if know one steals it.

The Last Easel you'll ever buy.
from Monore, MI
Thank goodness for my PE 101! This is a sleek, heavy duty easel for the serious painter who demands the best. It holds my heavy panels perfectly, incredible compared than any of the solid wood easels I have worked with, and adjusts smoother and cleaner than anything I have worked with at the university level. I cannot praise this easel enough as a true investment for someone who is looking for the first and last easel they'll ever buy. The only way I see anyone needing to purchase another one is if you're working on multiple LARGE panels, or and you just want to get your PE 101 a friend. Realistically unless you're painting on slabs of masonry blocks this easel will hold ANY support panel and canvas. It also folds VERY compactly and will fit in the back of your average car trunk.PROS: Can hold an incredible amount of weight.Adjusts quickly with no hassle no mess. Painted with anti rust coating. The last easel you will ever buy.Collapses Cons: I will admit the price is a little steep but I viewed it as an investment. Like a decent camera for a photography major, this tool is worth having. The only true flaw I see in this is that the main support that holds up your canvases is not fully held onto the H frame of the easel. Instead Klopfenstein decided the bar clamp was adequate for both weight and support. In my mind they did not keep in account for the slight wiggle and wobble the support the bar clamp gives for not being attached to the H frame so it could slide up and down the H frame poles like the top half is. OVERALL:One of the best investments in my education in art.I hope this review helped!
