Welcome to dickblick
Kitakata is manufactured from gampi fibers which produce a semi-translucent paper with a subtle laid finish. The silky texture makes this sheet a favorite for printmaking, bookbinding and resoration.
Sheets measure 16" × 20" (approximately 40.5 cm × 51 cm) with natural deckle edges and lightly sized. Weight is 30 gsm.

Seriously the best for printmaking!
By Ali Norman

This is a fantastic eastern printmaking paper that I use for etching and lithography. It is reliable for processes like chine collie because it is a lightweight paper that is fairly strong. Comes in great colors too!

Love this paper! It's great for woodcut prints..haven't been able to bring myself to use any other kind since I've used this. Shows small details very well. It's very delicate so be careful if you have to tape the edges in any way! But ultimately it holds up for prints fantastically. Great color too!
high quality, beautiful paper
from Savannah, GA
I make prints on this paper. Both the green and the natural are gorgeous suble colors with a cramy smooth side a finely textured side. Very strong fibers, a super sturdy but thin paper. Both sides take ink beautifully and are very absorbent. Lovely handmade edges and a geat size as is, so I try to plan imagery so that I can use every inch of every sheet. Blick also sells this paper in the natural color by the yard. That's a slightly thinner paper but no less strong and absorbent. I prefer this paper by the sheet because the roll-paper is so wide that it's very hard to tear accurately. Blick has the best price I've found for either kind.
Kitakata is excellent for printmaking

I use kitakata paper for hand-pulled relief prints without using a press. This paper yields clear lines, is lightweight, and strong. While it does not come in white, I have had success using the buff paper color as light tone in prints. It's buttery surface takes the ink easily.

I use the Kitakata Paper for Woodblock Prints. It is the same good quality I am used to over the years.

great for monotypes
this is a really nice paper for monotypes, especially if you transfer by hand. The rich golden tone combines great with black ink
