Peter X. O’Brien’s interest in art was encouraged at an early age by his artistic mother. After studying drawing and painting at the University of Idaho (as well as playing collegiate football), O’Brien enjoyed a brief career in the NFL as a placekicker for the New Orleans Saints, after which he completed his college education, earning a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Oregon. O’Brien currently lives in West Linn, Oregon, and has a studio in Lake Oswego. He travels extensively, looking for fresh subject matter for his paintings. He has studied under such well-known artists as Tom lynch, Tony Couch, Jan Kunz, Jim Ponti, and Eric Wiegardt in his quest to expand and refine his craft. O’Brien is considered by his peers to be one of the emerging western artists and participates in juried art shows throughout the western United States. He has received four "Best in Show" awards.
