With care you can cut a miter good enough for house molding, maybe, but for framing it's not close enough..

It has several problems:

The detent that sets the angle of cut flexes quite a lot, more than a degree each way so it's easy to get a cut that's off one way or another or even worse, rounded.

The clamp that holds the stock is very very weak--coming from Jorgensen, whose major product line is clamps, I would have expected better. During the process of cutting the stock can very easily shift.

The whole unit is very, very light--it needs to be screwed down to something solid--a work bench, or in my case a 2x8 that I clamped to the bench, otherwise it slides around and is pretty hopeless.

There's no support under or near the cut, so one needs to put a scrap under the workpiece to avoid tearout.

Unfortunately, I don't know of anything else in the same price range that's any better.

I was hoping to save myself the effort of making a small miter box, but looks like I'm going to have to.
