Jazz is the first tempera paint that dries like glossy enamel. Traditional temperas go on wet and shiny, but dry flat and matte. Jazz is different. It looks and feels like an enamel, but remains water soluble and washes off of most surfaces, even after it dries.
The brilliant colors and excellent coverage of the Opaque glosses make it perfect for lettering, murals, and general use.
Metallic Gloss gives sparkle and effect, while Fluorescent gloss adds extra emphasis to any project. Try blending Metallics with Transparents for unusual shimmering effects. All colors are intermixable.
Apply Jazz Gloss Tempera over Jazz Liquid Tempera to combine matte and gloss effects. Reverse the order, using the Liquid Tempera as the top layer, for an antique or crackle finish. When Jazz paints are dry, a clear acrylic spray or varnish can give you a permanent waterproof finish.
Jazz cleans up easily with soap and water. Non-toxic, it conforms to ASTM D 4236. It's packaged in 16 oz (.47 L) plastic squeeze bottles that are easy to reseal to ensure freshness.
Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.
Storage tip — All tempera paints contain organic compounds that make them safe to use, even if ingested, but this also means they eventually will spoil. To prevent spoilage, Blick recommends that you close the lid tightly after use and avoid returning unused liquid tempera to its original container after exposure to air. Always store tempera paints in their original containers, in a cool, dry place.

Jazz high gloss tempera paint is a great product!!
from Tamarac, Florida
Comments about Jazz Gloss Tempera:
I have used this paint for about ten years and the Vivid colors smooth texture and enamel finish make it one of a kind for a tempera paint. I'm a mobile artist and bring plaster and ceramic pieces to schools, camps, parties, events, xcetera and use 13 different colors of Jazz High Gloss Tempera. The cost has gone up so much I might have to change products. I hope there is something on the market as good as this product or that I win the $1,000 to afford this product!!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Nice enamel like gloss paint
By Museum Art Educator

Beautiful enamel like appearance and feel out of tempera paint. I have used this with my students on sculpture projects like paper mache vases, and air dry clay ceramics. Jazz gloss tempera gave a nice polished finish to the projects. Has a nice impression of glaze for non kiln fired ceramics projects.

Awesome Glossy Paint
By Art Teacher Lindsay
from Palm Harbor, FL
This is a very nice thick glossy paint. Give it a good amount of time to dry because it can be sticky if not. Excellent coverage with minimal layering. Colors are very accurate.#sweepstakes
I use this primarily for a spin art activity. The colors are amazingly brilliant and I love the way it dries glossy. In my art classes, we have used this to paint paper mache as well.

This is beautiful paint! I use it with kids on air dry clay and it looks a lot like glaze. The colors are beautiful and it stays shiny. I love this paint. The only thing is that it remains slightly sticky unless you spray it with clear krylon--which is kind of nasty stuff. I only do that if absolutely necessary!
one word comes to mind..Awesome! !!

The best tempera paint I've found!
from Athens, GA
I use this paint with students in k-6th grade. I love it because it looks like "real paint" when It dries. It doesn't scream tempera. The glossy finish gives their work a nice glossy finish that I can't get with basic tempera paint. It is very thick and has great coverage, a little does go a long way. My students ( and me too) really like the metallic paints, they look really nice when they dry , especially for a student tempera paint. My students paint on a Blick hardboard canvas each year. I used to let them use acrylics ( even the younger ones) because I didn't like the look of dried tempera. This Jazz gloss has replaced acrylic in my classroom for painting on the hardboard canvases. We used them last week in class and they will be painting with them again this week. The kids love to use these paints and I am pleased with the quality. I will use these all year long in my classroom for multiple projects.

Fantastic for Upper Elementary

I purchased then used this product based upon another art teacher's recommendation. I'm in love! Jazz dries VERY quickly - I used a hair dryer to speed along the drying time, but the pieces were mostly dry by the time I waved the dryer over them two or three times. In a 40 minute 5th grade art class I was able to hand out clay faces, students made decisions about a base color, brushes and paint were handed out, students painted a complete base coat then begin to add details, then cleaned up. Amazing to get so much completed in one class (usually there is a much longer "wait time" when using other media - the fast dry time of Jazz paint is a high selling point for me.)I use glazes for other types of fired clay, but for detailed work such as these 5th grade pieces, I will use Jazz from now on. I like the following: washes easily; is non toxic; goes on smoothly; dries quickly; is shiny when dry (though it recommends "Use a clear acrylic spray to make projects waterproof and permanent") and can be painted on with other colors very quickly. I do recommend painting projects on a thin piece of cardboard (Jazz can hold tight when dry, though still washes well!) Great product for upper elementary students! While I will continue to use glaze, I most definitely will use this product for appropriate projects.
