Used to draw the outline of an image on silk, superior Jacquard Waterbased Resist has a smooth consistency that holds a crisp line without spreading. It won't shrink or pucker when dry.
Suitable for silkscreening, Jacquard Waterbased Resist is odorless and non-toxic. Choose Permanent or Removable.
After being heat set with an iron, these colored and metallic resists are completely permanent whether washed or dry-cleaned. They can be applied with a squeeze bottle.
This white resist easily washes out with warm water (even after steaming or setting), revealing the white or colored silk beneath. It keeps silk fabrics completely soft to the touch and allows artists to create layered designs such as batik. Tint it with any waterbased dye for colored lines. Alcohol-free.

This product worked very well and I would buy it again
Comments about Jacquard Waterbased Resist:
I often experiment with using materials for purposes other than what they are advertised to do. This product has performed consistently regardless of the boundaries I push. I will continue to experiment with this product since it has performed so well for me to date.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Don't buy this black resist.
By The Art Coach
from Minneapolis, MN
The black resist is a poor formula. I teach workshops on silk painting, and I provide only the gold, silver, clear from Jaquard - which work beautifully, however, the black is tar-like and smears easily and terribly.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Clear water based resist
from Portland, OR
Using this product on cotton I found that it bled beyond the intended area consistently. Although it appeared to have saturated the fabric, the resist was only partially successful. The colour slightly penetrated the resist line.

This product does not work as expected
I have never used this product before but the description made me believe that I could use this resist to draw a line on silk. I used a very fine nib and still the resist just turned into a puddle. There is no body to the resist it behaves like an oily liquid.

Needs better instructions
from Houston, TX
They claim it washes out, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get it to wash out. I made it work by painting the backside of the fabric with the resist, and then dyeing from the front. Clearer instructions on removable techniques would be helpful, especially with delicate fabrics.
Merchant response: While the colorless resist will wash our, the black and metallic resists are permanent. If you ever have specific questions regarding our products or how to use them, please contact our Product Information department at email@example.com or by calling (800) 933-2542. Does not wash out
from Willow, Alaska
As a newcomer to the world of silk dying, I assumed the waterbased aspect of this product would make it a resist that is washed out of the silk after dying. Not to be. It has a rubbery consistency that is left behind, even after heat-setting with an iron. Use sparingly.
