When mixed with soda ash, Procion dyes are permanent, colorfast, and very washable. You can easily create a palette of brilliant colors ranging from light pastels to deep, vibrant hues.
Procion is perfect for natural plant fibers — cotton, linen, paper, reeds, and wood. Do not use it to dye synthetics.
Use Procion for tie-dye, vat dyeing, batik, airbrush, handpainting, printing, spatter-painting and more! This concentrated dye, which you add to hot water, gives you the most brilliant color of all dyes. Typically, 1 oz can dye more than 5 yards of fabric or about nine T-shirts.

The following ingredients are needed for fabric dyeing with Procion dyes:
Jacquard Urea can also be used to enhance color.
Great for beginners, this set contains 4, 2/3 oz (20 ml) jars of dye including Fuchsia, Lemon Yellow, Jet Black, and Turquoise plus a 1 lb package of Soda Ash Dye Fixer.

Comments about Jacquard Procion MX Fiber Reactive Cold Water Dye:
I followed the directions exactly (can be found online if you search this product) using the soda ash and common salt . The linen and cotton T shirts I dyed came out looking runway professional. Wash your items first as directed (cold water on gentle cycle) and rinse thoroughly. Once you immerse your items in the dye bath , stir every 5 minutes and turn the items over in the bath. After an hour, I rinsed thoroughly and then threw the items back in the wash again to get rid of any excess dye. The shirts were very deeply and evenly colored once thoroughly dry. Excellent product. Linen will pick up the dye darker than the cotton but I was happy with the difference.

Perfect for natural fibers!
By L.B. Jeffries
This dye always does exactly what it should. There are a lot of variables that affect the finished color — how much dye powder you use, how much salt, how long you leave the fabric in the dye bath — so testing and note keeping are keys to success. As long as you pay attention to the variables you control throughout the process, this dye never lets you down!

Dye was not as intense as photo shown

I followed the directions as stated to dye a cotton apron from the same purchase order. End results were blotchy and faded in color, as the deep purple came out more of a magenta pink, even after a 2nd attempt.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with this dye. The Procion MX is suitable for natural cellulose fibers, but the apron you ordered was a cotton-poly blend. One of our Product Specialists will be following up via email with information on compatible alternatives. If you ever have questions on which dye to use for a given fiber, we hope you'll let us help. Just call 1-800-933-2542 or email email@example.com.
Used to tye dye best and easiest dye I have ever used.
it was easy to use this dye and its associated products. The shirt came out beautifully: it is evenly dyed and just the color I wanted. It is nice that it is a cold water dye. Easier to use, easier to clean up and does not need a special pot that is then ruined from the dyeing process.
Great product with great results!
I have tie dyed over 20 shirts and still have a lot of product left. The shirts came out wonderful!! I let them sit for 24 hours since all great things take time. I will definitely be purchasing this again and highly recommend this product to anyone.
My Favourite for tie-dye!
I mostly use these for tie-dying because the colors are super vibrant and they mix with each other the way you would expect them to (red and blue make a really nice purple instead of a weird gray, red and yellow make orange instead of brown, blue and yellow make green instead of sludge). I wish the bottles had a little more dye in them for their size, seems like a waste of packaging.
I love these dyes! They are great for the price but I wish there was a little more product in the jars.. They are amazing quality though and I love using them! Vibrant and a great color selection!
Procion MX is one of the most vivid and versatile dyes for plant fibers such as cotton, linen, rayon and more. Watch this impressive tie dye demonstration using the Procion Dye to create a spiral effect on a tee-shirt. Then try it at home or in the classroom!
