Dyeing fabric in a washing machine has never been easier! iDye's self-dissolving packet eliminates the handling of messy powders. Just throw the dye packet in the washing machine, add salt, and run your fabrics through the wash cycle. It's the easiest way to achieve gorgeous color!
Choose from 30 vibrant colors for use with 100% natural fabrics, such as cotton, silk, rayon, wool, and linen.
Each 14 g (0.5 oz) package dyes 2 to 3 lbs (approximately 1 to 1.3 kg) of fabric.
Use iDye Color Remover to remove or lighten colors and brighten whites.
Jacquard iDye Fixative helps retain color intensity over time and reduces the risk of backstaining during laundering. It's ideal for items that are washed frequently or have particularly strong colors.
Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

Ok Product, But colors were off
from New York, NY
I used the dye to add color to the canvas bags i brought (which were 100% cotton) the first time i used it i brought the lilac color but it didn't come out to be lilac it came out as a royal blue (which i was very upset about.) the second time I used it I used scarlet color and it came out as red but it wasn't a scarlet it was like a fire engine red. Basically my only problem with this product was the colors they're too intense. The dyeing process was easy even though I didn't use stove top or machine I just boiled water until it got super hot, threw packet in and then fabric and stirred for 30 min. The color stayed on it too it didn't rub off on my skin or anything. for those who want to avoid the color rub off it says on the packet right after you dye it in hot water to wash it out in cold water with soap for the color to stay on it for good. Overall its a good product and its easy to work with, just wish the colors were less intense and for the lilac color to be lilac and not Royal blue.
Merchant response: Dyeing exactly per the instructions listed on the packet may improve your results. A variation on the process may indeed alter results. Please note that any swatches on our website are also intended as representations of the colors and not intended for exact matching.

Very easy, nice color
from Ann Arbor, MI
Couldnt be easier. True color, comes out like it says it will. I wish there were more colors, that werent so intense. However, plan to do some mixing, or using less dye. Just a beginner in this mode, tho; at this point, the washing machine method is perfect. Now doing sheets!

LOVE - color SO vibrant
By H the Knitter
Used 3 times: chartreuse, sun yellow & crimson. Two different yarns: 100% wool, the other 100% merino wool. On the stove. All three outcomes are AMAZING. I never exceeded 400 oz of yarn. The chartreuse and sun yellow are VIBRANT. I made some scarves. No bleeding or color washout and I have washed them a few times. Crimson used 4 skeins of yarn, so I knitted each skein on a machine into a 'blank' (about 85 st across) and dyed them in the pot as four solid objects (Doing this made the process SO effortless and easy; easier to rinse and dry). Color is amazing (crimson) and even. It was easier to dye the knitted object compared to the strands of yarn (too much time to unravel). I am working on the sweater with this dyed yarn and each strand (dk weight) is even and perfect in color. I already have a few more 'blanks' ready to dye more colors. This is the BEST product I have used to date! No mess, easy cleanup!

Didn't work for me
By Vicky D
from Gresham, Oregon
I was trying to dye some curtains black that were brown. The tag on curtains was gone so not sure what they are made of. Regular dye didn't work and this dye didn't either. It was worth a shot so that's why I rated product average. I think curtains are destined to remain brown. Just not at my house!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I adored the convenience and the cleanup was a breeze - BUT - when the package arrived, the weather had been drizzly/humid/warm for a few days, and the color-remover packet had dissolved and soaked into the paper packaging, rendering it useless. The two dye packets were soft and tacky to the touch, but had not completely melded with the packaging, so I was still able to use them with care.So I would definitely recommend the product, but would urge you to check the weather forecast before ordering by mail. Also - to the retailer - could you maybe put the packets in a baggie with a dessicant-packet before shipping?

Make sure you know the fiber content
I used to work at a yarn shop and sold fiber dyes. Many of the reviewers who said that the dye didn't work on this site did not specify the type of fiber content in their piece. If in doubt of fiber content-- don't dye! Most cotton t-shirts have polyester thread where they are sewn together and the thread will stay white even though the shirt says 100% cotton. If the dye comes off on your skin it is because the material did not absorb it and it is probably not 100% natural fiber.

Not quite as good as expected.
from Cleveland, OH
I ordered the product to dye a red garment black. Therefore, I went through the color removing procedure, followed all the instructions for the stove top dying, and added the green packet to "kill" the red. When the garment came out of the pot, it looked beautiful. The red was completely covered and the black was deep. The first time I washed it, the black looked faded and you could see the red still. But, when I wore it, the dye stained my skin and everything it touched. I figured it was my fault, maybe I hadn't washed it enough. So I wash it again, and the garment comes out looking red again. So, what I can tell you is that the dye is not colorfast at all.
Not quite the color I wanted...
from Minneapolis MN
I tried iDye Poly Black to dye a 100% polyester satin sash from chocolate brown to black using the stove top method. Instead of black I got a dark espresso brown. I'm not sure why I didn't get black. The color appears to be very permanent (no dye transfer from sash to skin).

I purchased a package of Violet for natural fabrics at our local art supply store, before I found out it's less expensive here.I used it in the washing machine with hot water.I dyed a used cotton tablecloth that was an off white in color with a pastel plaid design on it, and some 100% cotton white fabric which I forgot to wash first.I did let the items sit in the washer for about an hour before going on to the rinse cycle. They came out great. They couldn't be any more purple, which is what I wanted. The plaid barely shows through the purple dye.I figured it would still be prominent, but it's not.The fabric turned out a bit blotchy but that works fine for the quilting I want to do with it.I think it's because I didn't wash it first.I will definitely use these dyes again!
