Welcome to dickblick
This full bellied, extra-soft natural squirrel hair brush is every watercolorist's dream. It holds an amazing amount of color like only real hair can. The Series 6421 Flat Wash brush offers incredible stroke control and shapes square and sharp.
The small gray paddle handle, which is double lacquered, is easy to hold and makes the brush easy to manipulate. The nickel-plated ferrule stands up to continual soaking in water.

Comments about Isabey Squirrel Flat Wash Series 6421:
There's no snap to it. Several hairs have come off on my 'test' sheet as soon as I opened it. Although I'm hoping that'll stop after initial paintings. Although it is small...it seems like it's small for a child's hands. This brush seems more like a 1" brush. Pretty small...like for a child? Cute, though.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Love the Water Load
from Ft Worth, TX
Have the 1 1/2" short handle, Isabey flat wash brush. Great on water carry for the larger art works. Really like it! The only issue I have is it does loose some hair when painting, so have to keep checking to pull any hair out of the watercolor. However, overall, a great brush!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not really happy with this brush.
By Bee the creative
I started with a wash and had many hairs from the brush on the paper. It didn't hold as much water as I had hoped and bunched to the side when wet; while losing its bounce.

quality varies from brush to brush

Like the other reviewer said, the first brush they sent me shed all over my painting and ruined it. The coating on the handle also chipped all over my painting. I called Blick and decided to try another one just to see if I got a lemon. The new one works like a nice watercolor brush should. If you want to order this brush, test it out first before you paint with it!

This brush is amazing
from San Francisco, CA
I've had my 6421 brush for almost 11 years now and it's still one of my absolute favorite brushes of all time. PERFECT for never-fail washes. Gorgeous to the touch and gives flawless results.Just a note on the previous review...I think the artist used this brush incorrectly. This is a watercolor brush ONLY. It is not meant for anything as heavy as gesso or grounds. I'm not surprised that the hair fell out given its use.

Beware of this brush!
from Las Vegas, NV
I ordered this brush because I need to apply a ground in preparation for silverpoint drawings. I needed a flawless surface so I "bit the bullet" and spent the $80 plus to insure perfection. The brush came today and I gave it a trial run and was horribly disappointed. As I applied the ground, the brush "shed" fine bristles all over the entire surface of my paper, making the surface unusable for this type of drawing. [...] I would NOT recommend this brush!!!!
