Best brush in the world
By Mary Murf
from Barneveld, NY
Comments about Isabey Original Siberian Blue Squirrel Quill Mop Series 6234:
Holds lots of water, but comes to a lovely point. Almost sumi brush-like. I have a small one (i think 3/0), and I use it a lot.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The Brushes I have Been Waiting For
I had been having such problems producing satisfactory washes and executing similar techniques. These brushes immediately ended my problems in these areas. The brushes are expensive, but worth every penny for those who want to elevate their watercolor techniques.

My love of Isabey squirrel mops started with the squirrel pocket brush. I have since purchased other sizes both smaller and larger than the pocket brush. All of them have a wonderful point, water carrying capacity, and balance in the hand. Hard to explain the last quality until you hold one: You just want to keep painting with it.One downside of the brush is the price. Another, which I should have recognized earlier on, is the life of the squirrels. If these concerns trouble you, I would highly recommend the Princeton Neptune and Raphael Soft Aqua brushes as synthetic squirrel substitutes. Both have good points and large water carrying capacity when compared to other synthetic brushes made from golden taklon or other materials that try to imitate sable.
Quality watercolor brushes
If you paint in watercolor, it is wise to invest in quality mop brushes. These are great and I now own several in different sizes.
Really nice brushes
By New Mexico Kris

These brushes are really nice. They hold a lot of water which is so helpful for us New Mexico painters, especially when painting Plein Aire- it's so dry here. These smaller sizes have been great when working on smaller pieces and with finer details.
Very nice mop - but good for general use as well

I love the Isabey line of brushes and their pocket mop is my favorite travel brush so I decided to try out the regular version for my at home set. I really like these brushes - hold lots of paint and come to a nice point. Not as fine a line as the Silver Brush Black Velvet brushes, but very nice and these are a bit larger and do great for washes as well.
Nice and versatile in the smaller sizes
I really like these quill mop brushes. It took me a couple tries to find the right size, though. I don't love the huge mops brushes as I tend to work smaller so I ended up with the size 0 which is much closer to my usual brush size, but holds lots of water for washes. But it has a finer tip as well so I could do a whole painting in it if I wished!

Love the squirrel brushes.
By Robin the Cajn

I really enjoy using this watercolor squirrel mop. It holds a good bit of water and watercolor paint that covers a good area of paper in one stroke. The brush bristle is soft and is very gentle to watercolor paper as well. I will be purchasing a few more of these.
A very nice brush

Love this brush. Nice feel, holds a lot of paint and helps the watercolor go on the paper perfectly.
