An okay roller
from Barrington Illinois
Comments about Inovart Soft Rubber Brayer:
I needed a second brayer for monoprinting and didn't want to spring for another speedball one. This one does the job, but it's all plastic. I can see myself breaking it at some point from pushing down hard with it. I'm sure it's fine for gentler users or kids.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I use my Inovart brayers for monoprints--to roll out ink and also to apply pressure to pull a print. They are very good. Also I LOVE being able to remove the roller from the handle for cleaning.
I Like the Design

I purchased the InvoArt Rubber Brayer to use in my mixed media collages. I use a lot of heavy papers and photos and it is necessary to roll the air pockets out from under the paper. The brayer works well; it is smooth and does just what I need. The feature that appeals to me is that I can remove the roller to clean it. It sounds simple, but most brayers don't do this and I need to have a clean surface to roll over my pictures.

Purchased these for creating endangered animal prints with children in Ventura schools. Brayers were so great that I bought more to take to Japan for workshops with children. Lightweight.Easy to use. Durable and dependable. Thank you for helping my projects become a rolling success!

Not ideal for loads of block prints
from Great Lakes
I bought this to roll out ink for my block prints. The foamy top layer of the brayer roller is strangely smooshy. That outer layer flexes too much. The outer layer is a just a little bit loose in its attachment to the roller core. Ink gets underneath that smooshy foamy top layer--between that and the core. Getting all the ink out from between the outer layer and the core of the roller is a hassle. The design of the handle, specifically the deep channeled piece that fits around the roller portion of the brayer, traps ink. Cleaning out trapped ink (again) is another chore I don't need. This is especially difficult if printing in black ink, since the ink blends in with the black handle too well.THUMBS DOWN: (Serious use)NOT good as a serious block printing brayer. THUMBS UP: (Occasional use)I give it 3-stars because I think it is adequate for limited use from a crafter, student having only one session of learning block printing, or other very limited use. The price is low. It will get you by short term. Just do NOT expect it to be able to use it long term.

I'm using the brayer to do gel transfers with and it works great. Nice soft rubber rolls the paper on flawlessly every time and when you're done it's so easy to remove the roller and wash it before you put it away. Great product, great price and great service from DickBlick.
