This brayer works especially well for braying cold wax & oil on board. Harder brayers like the speed ball for printing don't roll as evenly. Softer foam brayers leave texture. This leaves a fine cover of wax and oil, easy to squeegee smooth and texturize. You can roll over and over to get darker effects.

Sad part is the handle and frame are quite good for the low price of this roller, but the 'supposedly' Delrin core is very mediocre if you intend to use these as ink brayers in serious printing/printmaking applications.

This item should not be called a BRAYER nor PRO because it is good as a crafting roller only, at best. The main problem is the subpar core fabrication, the ends that fit in the frame literally disintegrate with just a couple of uses with moderate pressure. One ends up with bits of pulverized plastic matter mixed in with his/her ink batch, requiring a clean-up of the entire glass surface and resulting in a waste of valuable ink.

I ordered 3 @ 4" and 2 @ 6" of these but unfortunately didn't put them in use for a few years, and yes, they were properly stored, packaged in a dark and cool space the whole time. A 'Delrin' core should not disintegrate this quickly.

Don't be fooled by the good looks and ergomic handle as I was, if you're looking for a dependable brayer, you need to spend more than $12 or $14 for reliable quality. The actual roller/core/handle on a comparable size Speedball Soft Rubber brayer is so much sturdier and durable, even though the handles are poor in design.

I was gluing together art materials that required quite a bit of pressure. The brayer held up and did the job without bending. Very pleased with result and brayer.

I use this roller for cold mounting photos to foam core. It has a very soft resilient roller that does a very good job.
