I was horrified at first when this item came to me in a roll. However, it flattened out nicely and is a lovely, sooty, dense black with a delicate texture. It almost drapes. It works beautifully for papercuts (scherenschnitte). I am so glad I found it and I hope and pray you never discontinue it because I will use it exclusively from now on.

While the black color is a painted surface and can be scratched it has the great advantage that the other side is white. You can mirror image your design, cut the paper to the size you need and print your design on the white side with an ink jet printer.

I cut silhouettes both for self and other and some professional on contract bases. I grew up with silhouettes and this paper is the same type that my great grandmother had on her walls which has yet to fade after being on the walls in a sunny spot for over 50 years. Highly recommend for durability of color. this is a thin paper making it easy to cut but not like tissue which is easy to rip strong in other words.

I'm a full-time professional papercutter, and I use this paper every single day. It has a great texture, thin yet durable, and cuts cleanly (no little fibers at the corner of your cuts. The white-on-one-side aspect allows for sketching and planning, and the painted surface is great for color durability.

Hands-down the best silhouette paper I have used, and I will never look for another type. My only complaint is that because it comes in a roll, it likes to roll up when you first open it. I always store it flat pressed under some heavier paper to make sure it doesn't try to roll up on me when I use it.
