Developed to be used with encaustic paints, the Hot Wax Pen is a woodburning tool that can be used alone, or to heat (and keep hot) Enkaustikos Hot Tool attachments such as Pen Points and Hot Brushes (sold separately). The Hot Wax Pen helps artists create a variety of effects using the four included tips — the chisel edge tip, the mini palette knife tip, the pointed stylus tip, and the blunted bullet tip. Use of the Hot Wax Pen with Pen Points and Hot Brushes maintains the molten state of the wax color until it is applied to the painting surface, allowing encaustic painters the option of working slowly and meticulously — or quickly and spontaneously. Because the temperature of the Hot Wax Pen can exceed the melting point of encaustic wax, it must be used with a temperature regulator to ensure the working temperature is maintained at 200° F. Temperature regulators are sold separately. ® Enkaustikos is a registered trademark. |
