Professional quality at an affordable price — that's what you get with Holbein Heavy Body Artist Acrylics, engineered to add more luster, brilliance, and color vigor to your paintings, as well as higher lightfast ratings.
Utilizing the best traditional inorganic pigments as well a the latest and most up to date organic pigments, Holbein Heavy Body Artist Acrylics make mixing seamless and thinning effortless. The 113 carefully detailed colors in the line can be thinned with water or acrylic mediums, or applied as a thin, dry brush layer. The heavy body formula is thick and brushable and will retain impasto textures and marks.
Superior, smooth, and vivid in every way, the Holbein Heavy Body range is certain to meet and surpass your highest expectations for an acrylic paint, no matter what your painting style.
Holbein's luminous colors offer brilliance and high chroma not found in conventional pigments. Because they contain fluorescent dyes and pigments that are fugitive, this brilliance will fade and the colors will shift with exposure to ultraviolet light. The luminous color series are best suited for works that are temporary, or that are meant to be photographed and used in a digital format.

Beware of bleeding!

Comments about Holbein Heavy Body Artist Acrylics:
I paint solid color blocks in my work, so I realize that the issue I had may not apply to everyone. I recently worked on a piece using black, white, and red, where the red color was Holbein's Cadmium Red. I absolutely loved the consistency and the fact that I didn't need to use multiple coats to get the color vibrancy that I wanted. However, when I went over the piece with varnish using a brush, some of the dye from the red traveled and turned my white areas pink. I've never had this happen before, even with student-grade paints, so I was surprised that an artist-grade paint would have this problem.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Like this compared to another major brand. Colors are pure and vivid. Compared to student grade, you'll get more milage with the professional grade.

This is a paint that I often use in my work, one of my favorites
I bought this paint and tested it against Golden heavy body artist grade, Golden Open, and Holbein Acryla. I used all four paints on a 30x40 sheet. I wanted a legit cost comparison and ease of use between them. Holbein heavy body is very pigment rich, slightly more expensive than Golden heavy body paint, and much less expensive than Acryla. Holbein Heavy body has more shine than the others tested, so I decided to use matte medium with it. Most Golden products have a chart on the tube to let you know what the properties are, Holbein does not. Still I think the heavy body stacks up as competitive. I ended up using holbein heavy body on most of the painting. I'll be spending probably the next year continually testing these four products. Didn't have a problem with any of the paints tested when cleaning the brushes wih pink soap, didn't have a problem with inconsistent mixes from the tube. My skill level with acrylics has been low end craft paints and basics. Im pretty wrll versed in using artist grade holbein gouache and artist grade oil paints. Aryla really was the easiest paint for mixing natural colors, while holbein heavy body and golden open were the most vivid making them the least realistic for my current skill level ( college level painter).
Holbein acrylics worth the price

The colors are rich and vibrant, which is important for my colorful paintings. I had loved Holbein watercolors and was surprised to find they have heavy body acrylics, too. A sample of the tube color is brushed onto the label so you can see the accurate color. The only drawback is the cap, which sometimes breaks during use (the same thing happens on the ones on Golden tubes). I keep intact ones from discarded tubes and clean them to use as replacements.

I love these acrylic paints! They come in so many colors, they blend beautifully, and they're not plasticky like I've run into with some other acrylics. Overall I love these! I'm just a hobby painter who likes to paint landscapes and other things, and these have been perfect!!!
