Welcome to dickblick
Developed by Holbein to offer the same high pigment quality and archival characteristics of Holbein's Artists' Oil line while allowing soap-and-water cleanup, Duo Aqua Oils are characterized by rich hues, high chroma, excellent resistance to light, and 17 "Elite" colors that contain heavy metal pigments such as quinacridones, cadmiums and cobalts.
Holbein Duo Aqua Oil Colors can be diluted with water, which creates a "melting" effect. A unique surface active agent helps them dry faster than traditional oils, allowing work to be completed in a shorter period of time.
Holbein Duo Aqua Oils can be mixed with acrylics, watercolors, gouache, and oils, to create a variety of effects and make possible a variety of techniques. They can even be mixed with metallic and pearlescent watercolors to create colors that do not normally exist in oil color palettes. Duo Aqua Oil Colors are no longer watersoluble when mixed with more than 30% traditional oil color.
Because they clean up with soap and water instead of harsh solvents, Duo Aqua Oil Colors are safer than traditional oils for use in the studio or classroom.
Note — Holbein's five "Luminous" colors should not be considered permanent. They will degrade with exposure to ultraviolet light. The lifespan of such works can be expanded greatly if they are shielded from ultraviolet light.

Perfect oils for my finger paintings!!!!!
from Salem, OR
Having tried other water mixable oils I am so excited to have taken the chance on Holbein Duo Aqua Oils for my finger paintings. The variety of colors is exciting. Being sensitive I am happy that I do not have to add other harsh products. I am loving the smooth and creamy flow and texture.

Brielle's Puddle of Delight - Oil Fingerpainting
I would only buy Holbein Duo Aqua, water-soluble oils!

from Palmer, MA. area
I have been an oil painter for 18 years now! In my studio I had a filter system running during my painting sessions. Because the fumes bother me, from the thinners to the paints throughout our home. I bought a book on how to work with Water-soluble oils, I was not sure. I decided to buy a set of Holbein Duo Aqua. After reading the book, learning to mix the colors, completing 4 paintings. I was hooked on the kind of paints I bought!
Using Water Soluble Oil Paints with Elementary Students
By Elementary Art Teacher
from El Dorado, AR
I loved using Holbein Duo Aqua Water Soluble Oil with my elementary students. I recently did pull outs during class with my 2nd graders to work on a special project for this year Reading for the Record book "The Bear Ate You Sandwich" by Julia Sarcone-Roach. The result was fabulous. I think oils have a richness of color lacking in other mediums. I never thought I would be able to use oil paints at school, but the new water soluble oils have made it possible.

Love the buttery texture.

I purchased a set of Winsor and Newton water soluble oil paints and it didn't contain all the colors I wanted so I ordered Holbein Duo colors to fill in what was missing on my pallet. I mainly went by the reviews at Blick and I was not disappointed! These colors are true to what I saw on Blick's site and they are as easy and buttery to paint with as other artists have stated here.
FIrst time with Aqua Oils
I just started using the Holbein Duo Aqua Oil when I started experimenting with finger painting. This makes for easy clean up. They have good consistency and they blend well. The colors are true to what is advertised. I'm very happy with this project and will definitely purchase again.

I put this paint on very thick in my paintings and it holds up just like regular oils. Can wash off with soap and water. I only marked it down a little because it's so expensive.
Oil & Water do mix!

I love this product! Still experimenting and having fun trying to manipulate like water colors. Dries within 24 hours if applied heavy or within an hour if you are doing lite washes.
