Welcome to dickblick
Developed by Holbein to offer the same high pigment quality and archival characteristics of Holbein's Artists' Oil line while allowing soap-and-water cleanup, Duo Aqua Oils are characterized by rich hues, high chroma, excellent resistance to light, and 17 "Elite" colors that contain heavy metal pigments such as quinacridones, cadmiums and cobalts.
Holbein Duo Aqua Oil Colors can be diluted with water, which creates a "melting" effect. A unique surface active agent helps them dry faster than traditional oils, allowing work to be completed in a shorter period of time.
Holbein Duo Aqua Oils can be mixed with acrylics, watercolors, gouache, and oils, to create a variety of effects and make possible a variety of techniques. They can even be mixed with metallic and pearlescent watercolors to create colors that do not normally exist in oil color palettes. Duo Aqua Oil Colors are no longer watersoluble when mixed with more than 30% traditional oil color.
Because they clean up with soap and water instead of harsh solvents, Duo Aqua Oil Colors are safer than traditional oils for use in the studio or classroom.
Note — Holbein's five "Luminous" colors should not be considered permanent. They will degrade with exposure to ultraviolet light. The lifespan of such works can be expanded greatly if they are shielded from ultraviolet light.

A superb product which I use in all my professional work.

Comments about Holbein Duo Aqua Water Soluble Oils:
I'm allergic to the ingredients in regular oil paint, so I've been using Holbein Duo Aqua Water Soluble oils for years. I find they compare very favorably with regular oils paints in color intensity, texture, and ease of application. I would not use any other brand and I've been painting professionally for 20 years.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am a beginning oil painter, so I don't have much experience using other oil types. It was recommended by Irish Scott to try Holbein water-soluble oils to create some of the art that I wanted to achieve. I think this will be a great hobby to further explore! The only thing that upsets me is that there were a few colors out of stock, that I wanted. Price could be a little better, but not bad. Some colors are very expensive, and I guess I don't know enough about oils to know why...Other than that, happy with this purchase! :)
Love, love, love Holbein Duo Aqua Soluble Oils
from Dallas Texas
Im using these Water Soluable oils to finger paint. So much fun! I confess I think they are a bit expensive, but the colors are so vibrant and beautiful I think it is worth it. Plus the clean up and reduced odor is so much better than regular oils. Iris Scott is the artist that inspired me to try finger painting. Amazing artist! Look her up! And Dick Blick has the best prices I have found so far on the Holbein Duo Aqua Oils.

I got about 9 colors to do a finger painting video that i saw online. I have never painted before but this produce was great. The colors are so vibrant and easy to put on the canvas. I thought they would have a stronger smell but they didn't! The clean up was the best part. We used soap and water and we were done. I will keep using this product!

Smooth and creamy
from Chelmsford, MA
These paints have vibrant colors and smooth texture. They are as close to alkyd paints as I have found so far, having tried 5-6 other brands. I use them for landscape and still life work. The paints dry faster than regular oils and there is no solvent off gassing so I can use them anywhere in my house. The pricing is generally fair and excellent when the product is on sale.
Nice quality oils
from central NY
I primarily paint with acrylics, so have no idea how the quality or price compare to regular oils. They are a good quality, nice consistency, colors are bright and deep. They seem to grey out when colors are mixed together but that is likely my fault, mixing warm colors with cool. I love being able to experiment with oils that have a low odor (when stuck indoors with windows closed during long winters), and that clean up so easily with soap and water.
