In concept, they are perfect for transporting wet canvases, but in practice: two of the pins collapsed as we pushed the second canvas on, and one other fell apart entirely when we disassembled the pair leaving one bare pin impaled in the canvas. I ordered two sets, so I am left with a few pieces and will not try to use them again.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Affordable, simple and small enough to toss in the drawer of a french easel where space is at a premium. Once made by shoving needles through wine corks cut in half, canvas pins worked for the 19th century founders of plein aire painting and these updated models will work just as well today. Just remember that the primary purpose is to get a couple of wet canvasses from the field back to the studio or to stack them together against the wall 'til they dry. The pins in these could be a little longer.
