Welcome to dickblick
Holbein Artists' Watercolors are imported from Japan, a country with the oldest professional watercolor tradition in the world. Japanese colors have always been renowned for their brilliance, and Holbein continues in the same tradition.
For more than a century, the Holbein color laboratories have produced a full-range palette of transparent watercolors that not only achieve world-class standards in lightfastness and color vigor, they also retain their clean, crisp, brilliant characteristics over long periods of time.
In addition to the pigments that are traditionally used in European art, the Holbein watercolor collection contains many exceptional and brilliant colors that are not found in other watercolor lines.
Holbein does not contain ox-gall or any other dispersants that inhibit optimum brush handling qualities. This makes Holbein ideal for painting in the Japanese watercolor tradition, where brushstrokes are often preserved. Holbein is the perfect choice for fine detail work such as lettering and scrolling.

Well designed and easy to us
This is a really comprehensive travel set and, being tubes, you're not going to run out any time soon. The Holbein watercolours are great but you can also fit W&N tubes in if you subsequently want to change brands.

Wonderful paints, and they stay moist
The quality of these paints is excellent. Great pigment, great colors and I love the fact that they stay moist for a long time. Unlike with some other tube paints, I rarely have trouble opening older used tubes.

Holbein colors have no ox gall so they won't clog my spray bottles. The colors start bright and stay bright. except for rose most are very lightfast.

Big Fan of Holbein Watercolor Paint!
from Los Angeles, CA
I've been a fan of Holbein watercolors for years. Love the saturation of color. If you like glazing with watercolors… you may be pleasantly surprised, with the beautiful depth of color you can achieve.
from Fleming Island, FL
These artist professional grade watercolors are just wonderful! You will love them and will want more of them for your palette. I especially like purchasing the larger tube at a better value.
They really are the best!

I recently received my order of "Holbein Watercolors", and I am so excited. They have such strong, bold colours, but they mix together to produce clean clear colours. These water colours are easy to work with, and give even the newest painters excellent results. I would totally recommend this brand of watercolours whether you are a student or a professional painter.

Holbein's special colors—brilliant orange, brilliant pink, horizon blue, etc. give a smooth wash and excellent brightness.

Superior grade watercolors
from Springfield, IL
I paint watercolor everyday, and Holbein paints are my favorite. I know the colors will flow and blend well, granulation will be in sedimentary colors, and the tubes are sturdy. The lids will not break with repeated use. I can re-hydrate and add fresh paint to semi-dry and there will be no problems. I love this paint.
