I use these for underpaintings for my oil paintings - they work extremely well for this purpose - they don't close of the surface of the gesso, and I can use them in very thin layers to get rid of any ridges that would form with thicker acrylic paints. I use them with a Sta-wet palette to keep them workable for a long period of time.
The color choices are fantastic, and as I sought strange, bright, and pastel, I was pleased at the selection.

I am a new gouache artist, and the first set of gouache I used was Reeves. While I do like using Reeves Gouache I have to say that this brand is amazing. Not only is the color quality brighter but I also flows easier when I'm painting! I'll be buying more really soon.

Streaky and translucent
I've seen these recommended over and over, so they were a huge disappointment. The cheap student grade set I used before this has better coverage and I've been scratching my head and trying to make these work for the last few weeks. Of the 6 very lovely colors I bought, only black is opaque straight from the tube, with burnt sienna just slightly better than the others, but not by much (seen below, all straight from tube with no water). The rest are all streaky and thin and require 3+ layers for opaque color payoff. I was expecting this on some level with the yellow or even magenta, but white? Maybe I got a bad batch, or something.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Best gouache ever !
Wanted to try this gouache after admiring it in a painting workshop.. Instructor using. Immediatley loved the color but had not tried this brand before. Very pleased with coverage. Used in an acrylic painting I was doing... More opaque than other brands of gouche that I have tried. On my list of paints to ALWAYS keep on hand!
What I found EXTRA helpful, while almost ruining a major focal point on hot press and watercolors...a touch of this product really repaired a delicate area of paper and I was able to rework and save it!

Holbein Acryla Gouache is Amazing
from Southern Ohio
Holbein Acryla Gouache is my absolute favorite painting medium. As an exhibiting artist and an art teacher I have used A LOT of painting mediums. I love the opacity of the product and its plasticity, which is greater than traditional gouache. I often create mixed media works and I always incorporate Holbein Acryla Gouache which pairs well with traditional acrylic, watercolor and collage.

Gotta Have This Stuff
The Titanium White is an essential on my palette. It's dense, opaque and flat. Makes every other brand and color it's mixed with perform better.
By Geometric Abstract Painter
I use this paint to make flat geometric shapes, mostly on watercolor paper. It is unrivaled for its smooth, buttery consistency and its perfectly flat finnish. I only wish it were available in larger tubes. The 20 ml size goes very fast when working on anything large.
