I used this with watercolor pencils and it didn't run, melt or smudge one bit! Fantastic opaque black on toothy paper!

For pen and ink drawings this ink is unsurpassed. Non clogging, smooth flowing.
Best waterproof ink around for use with crowquill and watercolor.

good for refilling
Good for refilling cartridges on pentel pocket brush,g nib fountain pen,and rapidosketch tech pen,NOT good for any type of dip pens, its very thin so it feathers with dip pen

I use this ink in my parker vector fountain pen for note taking. THe ink flow from the pen is absolutely delicious, providing effortless, jet black, smooth-as-silk lines. Its so vastly superior to the parker ink I was using before, its jaw dropping. Very highly recommended for fountain use.

Maybe it used to be better?

I bought Black Magic primarily to use for inking comics on Bristol using nibs and brush. Pros: It is indeed waterproof and Copic-proof. You can watercolor over your inks and it will be fine. Also, it is thin enough not to clog your nibs. Built-in dropper is nice. Matte.Cons: Has a tendency to feather. Can't get a consistent line with a ruling pen becase it's too runny. Gets smeared by liquid frisket (Grafix is less damaging than Winsor Newton). Not nearly as solidly black as tradition had led me to believe. Smells nasty. Better alternative: Speedball or Holbein.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This ink used to be SUPER black back then, but now, when I purchased this, it came out GRAY, and TOO THIN!! It took about a week to condense it to be super black, but by then, I hardly had any ink in the bottle!! Higgins, you better step up your act, because now your ink is GARBAGE!!
Black Magic Ink

I use Black Magic ink for cartooning and wouldn't be without it. This is a dense black ink good for graphic arts applications. I am also a custom framer and use it to paint frame rabbits because it is quick to dry. (Rabbits are painted for various reasons, primarily when framing mirrors that reflect the rabbit's color or lack thereof.)I don't know of any drawbacks regarding this product.

Easy to use without mess. The black is dark enough to see clearly when using .01 pens. Waterproof but readily removed from hands with soap washing, and hand moisturizer.I used this ink (only 12 to 15 drops each time) to refill/resaturate the inner cores of non-refillable technical pens. Make sure that the tip of the dropper is touching the inner core fiber of the pen, else the ink will run down the inner barrel and flood out openings near the nib. If the ink is only dropped into the inner core fiber, it will be absorbed properly. (Recommend a small sheet of aluminum foil with a paper towel underneath while doing so, just as precaution.)Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Ink seems to help lubricate the nibs so the tip flows more easily across papers while leaving that waterproof line.
