6x6" hardwood panels
from Milwaukee, WI
Comments about Hardboard Panels:
Before I got these Blick panels I was cutting my own. These are a little thinner, 1/8" than the self cut ones. However, I don't need to use my table saw and I can keep all my fingers.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Smooth for Painting!
from Minneapolis, MN
I order the 6x6 hardboard panels and gesso them black and use them for my small daily paintings- they are always the correct size, sanded edges and the surface doesn't warp at all~ love them!

Excellent, clean cut, smooth
By Artist Robert Gregory Phillips
from Austin, Texas
I cut my own boards most of the time so I was skeptical of trying these but I am very well pleased. The edges are very clean cut and accurate and the finish is smooth but not slick so the paint goes on well. The only negative was that on one side of the board there is a sticker with the manufacture info, and it doesn't come off very easily. Of course I just paint on the other side of the board but I like a clean back also, because I put my artist info on the back before I ship to a gallery or customer.
Very fine product

perfect for my purposes
By Bill Hansen

As a hobbyist in pastels and colored pencils, working in a very limited space, I needed a light weight, compact, inexpensive support for the papers I use. These are perfect for that purpose.

Love these. Hard and sturdy surface, I use them to mount my watercolor sheets.
A must have
As so many mentionned these panels are so versatile that every artist should have a bunch of them in different sizes in the studio. They serve million of purposes.I too stretch paper, tape canvas, use it as a palette even as a surface to prime or to glue the artworks on afterwards.

These are an economical smooth painting surface, as well as rigid/flat. I have limited space, and I like that I don't have to store the large paintings flat like with paper, or have them take up as much space as stretched canvas.I removed a star only because of the upc stickers, like a previous reviewer. I saw the Blick response (remove with heat) too late, after I'd removed the stickers with water, leaving the glue behind. Would the heat method have removed the glue as well? I want to gesso/paint overtop of the glue, but I wonder if it'll show through or affect the paint over time. I also don't want to leave a sticky patch on the back of each painting.
I love my art on wood panels
from Fincastle, Virginia
I always take time to prep my panels with PVA size. Although I have never seen anyone do this online, someone once recommended it so I do it!!!! Then I also coat the panels with gesso. I LOVE Gesso!!!! With these two steps I have never had any problems, no warping no nothing! And, as I am an "intense" artist, I scrape, I sand, I scratch....my boards work with me!
